Although I get your point and agree with it, what I said is that it was not suggested that Aguero is made to give up the shirt. The idea was Aguero loves Messi so much he'd probably offer the shirt up without being asked.

But I genuinely doubt if Messi signs he's going to force his best bud Aguero to change shirt number.

Yeah I get it, but I really don't think it's worth it. Agüero should play his last season with all the dignity he deserves. That includes the number 10 and a statue outside the stadium along with Vinnie and Dave.

Messi would only last two seasons tops. He's not the same body-type as Ronaldo, who is build to last. And I think we can both agree that what happened with Cristiano and Juventus is that the player continued to perform (because he is that good) but the club never got any closer to winning the Champions League. Same would happen to Messi here.

Absolutely bang on this. When you go on the stadium tour at Barcelona everything is engineered around Messi. He makes that club so much money. There's kids from all over the world who are wearing Messi tops. Nobody cares about Suarez or Dembele who they bought for big money. It's Messi. I don't do players names on the back, but if he came here I'd probably go to the City Store and buy a shirt with his name on the back.

If Messi leaves the club it will be a catastrophic disaster for them in terms of their finances and their profile. They're already loaning 800 million pounds and that's without the money Messi brings into the club. The club is in a real mess!

The Man is a walking Cash point. Whatever he earns he will pay for that himself from whatever he brings into the club from shirt sales and sponsorship deals. Just to watch the little genius at the Etihad would be amazing.

I'd even bet for Aguero's best friend to come here he would leave the number 10 shirt free for Messi, and take the 16 back off Rodri. I'm sure Rodri won't mind, he seems like a decent lad.
But the problem is Messi is a BARCELONA icon, not Manchester City and he never would be.

We need to create our own icons just as we have with Ms Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Yaya, Zabba and soon to be Foden.

Lets look for the new superstars the likes of Felix , Auoar and Martinez.

He's not past it but he's probably too old for us, he'll not give the club the PR legup we're after.

Think of Dave. The world knows him as a City player who will have a trundle at Lazio. You can substitute Barca & City for Messi.

Brilliant player, would I love to see him Inna City shirt for a couple of years dead right I would but do I think I will? Maybe when Kun has a testimonial.

See Trump manual for clarity, this is how incompetent crooks cling to power

What do you think of Koeman for manager?

I thought he was Barcelona material when he was at Southampton, was surprised he never gor considered. Underrated manager.

David isn’t off to Lazio.

He's a blaugrana legend, I love him but not to coach Barca. Moreover, no coaching change can correct the problems at the club - regime change required

I don't disagree on the problems at the club, and i actually feel for Koeman, he is gubbed to begin with.

I do disagree on Koeman, very good manager. He is in my opinion the right man at the right place, but at the wrong time. A few years ago, would have been great for you. Now he is just a former legend chucked in front of the fans as yet another political gesture, to take the shit. He'd have been better off waiting till changes came and building from there.

Real Sociedad.

I don't think Messi would do that well for us, won't have the legs for a hard premier league campaign. I'm hoping it's just false rumours we're hearing and he stays at Barca for the remainder of his career. Let's look at young players still, they will be the future.

He’s past his best but would still be on a different level to anyone apart from KDB.Lots of us talk about David as our greatest ever player but this season he was on the wane to the point Gundo started ahead of him in lots of big games. Messi still managed 25 goals and 22 assists in 31 league games last season. He’s that fucking great that it was his worst season in years.

He would still be the best player in the league with his legs gone. But I do agree that we should be looking at younger players. I don’t know the financials of signing messi but the board will be fully aware that he’s 33 and will be entering a slow decline. If we do go after him, I’m pretty confident the club feel that he’s worth the money regardless of his age, we’ve been a well run club for years now and that won’t change because of one player.

to be fair we look at a fair few younger players as well - we are always moving young players around on loan to see if they are good enough to make the step up......Im sure we will get one or two younger players in for the reserves at some point this summer as well
