As a very liberal state perhaps all have learned to keep a low profile politically whether from here of having moved here.

I thought when Christianity Today (out of the Billy Graham stable) supported impeachment, that might have led to real fracture. Your last sentence probably carries the main problem - pastors may be horrified by all things Trump but don't want to divide their congregations (especially when many are paid by the congregation).

The interesting thing about that call (which was discussed in this thread at the time) is that I have seen many evangelical leaders on Twitter and elsewhere distancing themselves from Christianity Today since.

I think it is likely partly down to what you have said (not wanting to bite the hand that feeds them, especially as the better part of their feed comes from “prosperity doctrine” side) but I think it is also largely due to the more dodgy elements of their community having become more dominant and thus creating factions that either disagree about what their relationship should be with Trump or stand completely opposed to it.

The biggest issue they have is that latter group is still too small to affect change; most of the conflict is *how* they should work with Trump, not *if* they should.

We can only hope for the sake of the country (and members of that community) it grows larger.
 
Top tip.

Every time Trump says “The Dems want to...” translate it into “I want to.”


For example Mr Trump has said today. “Why do reporters only say why are Russia meddling in our election when China and Iran are, and the dems want to...”
 
Talking to my dad today and he was going on how all Democrats and republicans hate Dumb Donald and that's good because he's not a politician but a businessman. I mentioned that inheriting $400 million doesn't make you a good businessman and that he's gone bankrupt six times but that just pissed him off.

It's probably good I didn't mention that the goal of a businessman isn't to help anybody but themself and that governments aren't supposed to be run as for profit businesses.

How does it work when a Republican led bipartisan senate committee issues a report that shows proof of all the Russia ties that Trump has repeatedly claimed were a witch hunt, and the chairman of that same committee blatantly lies about its content, and there is not an immediate move to impeach and remove Trump from office. There is not even a fig leaf of implausible deniability that can be taken from that report. Wtf is going on?

When you consider that his original impeachment was off the back of the Muller Report, and the Senate Committee report is WORSE, I just don't get it.

He was a massive fan of capitalism and people stuffing their pockets as greedily as they can as well iirc.

I am always impressed how brazenly evangelicals are willing to do literally the opposite of Jesus's teachings, without a hint of irony.

I think that you will find that in order to carry out the Lord's work and spread His message it is necessary to have your own private jet.
