Which sponsors will help back this deal in the present circumstances?

Covid and lack of spectators to me make this deal impossible to pull off even if he wanted to come.

It would be wonderful to see him in sky blue, but the cost is just too great, and we have bigger priorities at this time.

Messi in the Premier League, when half the world is stuck at home watching tv, seems a fair carrot to dangle in front of a sponsor tbf.

Thats not strictly true. There would be thousands of Dippers there setting fireworks off to reiterate that we’re a small club and of no relevance or interest to them whatsoever.
The scenes when firminho beats Messi to player of their year as he donated a tin of beans to the food bank in September

We will be a elite club if he signs with us. Well after signing Ronaldo in italy the stadium saw increase in the number of fans. The impact will be seen all over the country and all over the world once he comes here. It is more than money that matters. More people will be city fans. More sponsers. Remember Ronaldo has more social media fans than juventus. It is not just about social media influnce though. Thats the kiind of impact we will get. Of course he will improve our team. He still has 2/3 years at his peak. Plus with him we will defenitely go past QF in champions league.
We are an elite club!

Plus: Ronaldo had already played in Portugal, Rags and Real, Messi is a one club man, he is and always will be Barcelona and that will never change.

I would love to see in not only him in blue but English football, but there is no guarantee of Champions league success with him, as Juve and Ronaldo have shown!

I also think he is past his glorious best already and is nowhere near the physical freak in terms of body condition that Ronaldo is.

Sure I read that he does 1000 sit ups every day

Money aside, would the prospect of being managed by his favourite manager and be playing alongside his favourite friend not be extremely appealing to Messi?

I would imagine they are considerations (esp the Pep bit) but there is probably so much more for him to think about - he has to uproot his family for starters nd move to a new city - that aint easy when you are just a normal person but when you are the most famous footballer on the planet the logistics of that alone must be hell

So, £300m - £450m to get to the semis and become European elite. More plastic and twitterati recruits. Attendances swollen by day trippers. Enhanced sales of sweatshop tat. That’s how it sounds.
