It's the way the game is now played.

The intensity of play and the relentless amount of games.

And the main reason this last season was so disappointing was the sheer amount of effort put into the formidables season.

We came back both physically tired and especially mentally exhausted.

Is a 33yr old player, despite how good he is , going to improve us in that part of the game.

I want us to have a young, hungry, exciting team. A team like the one Bayern are putting together.

Bayerns main man is Lewandowski who is 32.

According to a report from "Ole" in Argentina Messi has made his decision and will inform Barca of his intentions

A lot of people here watched Barca v Bayern and are just regurgitating what the BT Sport commentators were saying about Messi's performance. The lack of tracking back, the lack of intensity etc. At that point Barca had already shipped 5 goals and were down and out. Not really the right time to judge a player. It's like someone only watching City v Lyon and claiming Sterling will never be a decent player because he can't finish. It's wide of the mark and doesn't reflect other performances.

In the first half against Bayern, Messi immediately identified their weakness and dropped in to find the space to feed the balls forward and created so many chances that weren't taken. Barca's issue is that the whole team is lacking any pace or intensity. Suarez can barely run yet has a contract until he's 35 if he takes out the option of an extension. Pique, Alba, Busquets all have contracts until they're 35. Alba is still a quality player but the other two can't move as well as is needed for the level Barca should be at.

He hasn't lost his legs, he can still burst through 4 or 5 players and get in on goal. He did that vs. Bayern even but his shot was right at Neuer.

Ok, but the media all over the world are picking something up from somebody, same story, City evaluating the costs etc.
Espn , PSG thinking about Messi, maybe for Neymar.
Someone is briefing, almost certainly Barca and Josep Maria Bartomeu in terms of Spain.

They aren't informed stories - they are arse-covering fluff pieces at best, covering bases while Messi keeps quiet.

Just to respond to a couple of your concerns you have shared.

Neither Mbappe or Haaland have any desire to come to City now or in the future, they have made it clear.

Felix also didn't want to know when we expressed an interest last season.

Another thing all three of those players have in common is they wouldn't even move the commercial needle much for City off the field.

And certainly nobody moves it like Messi would.

He knows what he must now do. If he does it, we will be seeing him in a City shirt very soon.

What do you think Tolm do you think Messi is actually going to ask to leave Barcelona? Seems closer then ever now

Due to the magnitude of this potential transfer I dont think anyone in the media dare stick their necks on the line to call this or even report on it. As TH says a lot of covering basis.

I presume news will filter out by the end of the week of his intentions.

I see there are 2 sides to this argument so I thought I'd make a summary of the pros and cons.

+ Greatest player in history plays for Man City.
+ Scores 30 goals and gets 30 assists a season.
+ Plays the best football you're ever going to see.
+ Tends to make everyone around him play better.
+ Will probably make Pep stop doubting the side.
+ Brings in a ton of money.
+ Upsets millions of rival fans.

- People might be mean about us buying him.
- We don't know how much of someone's else's money it will cost.

If he does decide to leave I think he'll go to PSG, he wont fancy the premier league because of its Rough and Rowdy Ways.

Exactly this, no one wants to report it because everyone would presume it's just for clicks and if it's wrong you look like a tit

Apparently it could be by the end of the day what his intentions could be....

Fascinating about Haaland & Mbappe! Was it us, the way we're set up or Manchester as a whole?

Haaland surprises me, but Mbappe doesn't. The majority of players in their 20s will have grown up idolising certain teams. City of course isn't one of them. Pep has helped us secure some players we may have struggled to otherwise, and continuing to challenge for titles will enable us to sign pretty much whoever we want. But there will still be those that aren't interested for whatever reason. That's why signing Messi would be such a great move. How many younger players could we snap up off the back of that? Players who would love the chance to meet him or play at a club where he is.

And how many young kids would suddenly follow City and dream of one day playing for us because of Messi. The way we've heard certain players talk about the rags/Liverpool over the years.
