Today is my birthday. The socks that the kids bought me were pretty nice but Messi to City might well beat them for presents.

Also I just want to point out that last season in a rough Barca team, Messi scored more goals than Aguero did for us and ALSO had just short of the amount of assists that KDB did.

If that's a decline then I'd be interested to know what Sergio and KDB have.

I'm speculating. I don't know what his contract says but assuming it's contentious, better to put Barcelona on he backfoot. They'll find it almost impossible to deny Messi a move after 20 years if City offer a fee between £50m to £100m. But if we try and take him free it will be high risk. It largely depends on the exact wording of his contract. If it's very clear cut and in the players favour then we don't have to worry but the interpretations given by Sky and other journalists made it sounds very contentious. Tebas is not going to take this quietly and we could easily get embroiled in another UEFA war. It's not worth it for~ £50m.

I reckon so too. Just a question of whether City do it with barca's agreement and arrange a fee to smooth it over,and that probably depends on a reading of his contractual situation.

If I were City I'd try and reach an agreement with Barca if there's significant doubt over Messi's 'freedom of contract'
