reports saying the barca board are still trying to work hard to convince him to stay - one of their directors this morning with direct quotes saying they are working on trying to convince him to stay and still want to build the team around him

Could be just the politics at play so they can claim they have done everything to try and convince him to stay and so heaping all the blame on the player himself.

Aye, Kev is the only player that springs to mind, and I find him to be the sort of player who if he plays well the rest of the team does (Silva was similar). Aguero is the only player who I've ever seen who can be having a bad game, the rest of the team can be having a bad game, and he can still win it for you (but those sorts of players really are rare!)

Not surprising if true, as Koeman not known for great interpersonal skills.

it might be a case of Messi telling the board “me or Koeman”

To speak to your other response, that is part of the joke with the meme (as is the case with many “meta” memes): the fact that is overused.

As one of my nieces recently told me, memes rarely have only one “joke” or reference these days — they have three or five or ten. They are built on iteration after iteration, layer upon later of cultural reference. They are very tiny cultural history lessons.

The older we get, the fewer were get.

But, again, I wouldn’t take this too seriously; far more important things to have pet peeves about.
