Just the new TVs deals (PL&CL) are worth about £70-£80M a year to us. More than enough to pay for Messi and we are keeping the Etihad sponsorship increase for a rainy day. If we're a little short, Etihad just up the sponsorship to current market value (at least £30M more than we get currently).

And I don't see Barca letting him go for nowt. All up to Messi imo & maybe determined by whether Barca sign some talent in the next week or so.
If Messi asks to go I think they'll do a deal at about half the buyout.

That's the rub, I don't think Messi would fuck Barca by leaving on a free next summer, just can't see it. In which case it's either a compromise fee this summer, or he signs a new deal but keeps a realistic buyout for us to get him next summer, problem being of course he's another year older etc etc

Imagine he just tells them now, he will do them the favour of leaving for, say 100 mil now, or he's off for free next season & signing a pre contract in Dec.

He has done his bit then to meet Barca half way. That's perfectly fine, especially seeing as the people who looked after him are no longer there & in fact some work for us.
