Say a player is on 50m a year wages with a 500m buyout clause...the selling club wants 250m to let the player leave. The player can spunk 50m down and straight up leave? How is that fair to the club selling? The buying club could easily tap him up and say we’ll give you a 100m signing bonus and then save 150m.

Based on nothing but my own gut instinct, anyone else enjoying all this Messi stuff but feel that ultimately, Messi will leave us with egg on our faces and stay at Barcelona ?
I certainly think if he leaves Barcelona then he'll come to City but this nagging doubt that he'll end up staying at Barcelona won't leave me.

All I wish now is that this is settled soon so that it doesn't impact our other important targets in defence. The mention of Jesus/Bernardo in a swap deal has killed my excitement somewhat.
