If Barca keeps behaving this way, I won't be surprised if the next week or so we hear Eric Garcia has changed his mind and doesn't want to go there anymore ... and signs a new contract with us.
 
Regardless of the legal argument Barca may bring up, they aren't doing themselves any favours with this stance.
The way I see it, Bartomeu has a vested interest in getting a fee for Messi, you could argue he has engineered the whole situation what with the social media campaign they run against him.
Bartomeu is on the hook for any financial losses that Barca make at the end of his presidency, it's shouldn't come as a shock to anyone to think he see's Messi as a way of resolving that.
Whatever Barca try and do, if Messi has made up his mind, there's only one winner, Messi.
Even if they prevent him from leaving this season, he can still leave at the end of it, I would imagine it will make him more determined than ever.
Barca the club/the organisation are damaged either way, even with a change of board members!
The last thing you need in any organisation is a disgruntled employee, the unrest will spread like a cancer....

Oh and Tebas, well he's just a bitter c^%t!

I think it will strengthen his will to leave. When Ronaldo wanted to leave real honored his wish since he put so many good moments for them. Messi has been so loyal that it’s beyond embarrassing

Couldn’t agree more than this mate. Behaving like this will leave a very sour taste for arguably the greatest player ever who had given 20 years service. Just goes to show the importance of the dollar though in that they would rather destroy the above for money. Sad reality of modern day footbal

Yep their mask has slipped, as I've said before this is not like he's 25 and just wanting to move for more money or because he has fallen out with Barca - he's given them 16 years + in the first team, has rejected many times a move away and been loyal. As he enters the final years of his playing career he wants a new project, one with people he trusts and those that are not political. The more they speak the closer he gets to joining us.
 
The difference with how we treat our players who wish to leave is staggering. The lad has given them 20yrs and this is how they treat him when he wishes to leave. This will surely damage the reputation of Barca and La Liga if they refuse to budge and have a knock on effect on players thinking of joining them in the future.
 
Do remember this btw, Tebas is just shitting himself, because he knows club will have to eventually negotiate an exit.
