Talk about nerves, we are in touching distance here yet still so far away.

We are so near yet so far away with Messi & now Koulabily

Both can go fucking pear shape hear & it could only be City that it happens.

Come on please be the best 48 hours as a blue in the transfer market

Which is?
Crack on, mate. It’s a valid question to ask about the finances, I just don’t see anyway possible that the club would pursue this if they hadn’t done their homework.
I would take it a step further and say that the club has had a "what if" plan in place for years for this very scenario. The last thing you want to do is not be ready for it if it comes.

I just hope were not all stood in silence glaring into our Andrex full of sticky white love piss and our harders drooping as news of a U turn develops?!! The int picture changes every 10 minutes depending on what you read, hear or see on Sly/BT Sports etc. Me, i'll just be happy that me vinegar string got twanged!! ;)

You certainly aren't a moron but this is do-able financially. My issue would be raising the cash rather than meeting FFP. For that, we might have to sell someone we'd prefer not to.

Under FFP we can lose up to €10m a year in a 3-year period, which equates to £27m or £9m a year. We've made profits of £10m per annum the last 2 years, plus we can add back about £30m per annum in allowable expenses. That means our FFP-adjusted profit is something like £40m in each of the last 2 years, leaving us £49m a year to play with and still just about meet FFP.

If Messi brings in £40m a year additional commercial income, that's nearly £90m a year we've got to play with. That equates, over 5 years, to a £450m outlay, which is the same as a £150m fee and £60m a year wages. And that £450m is very much the worst case scenario I'd say. £300m sounds more like it.

And in the current financial year we've sold Sane, Garcia will go to Barcelona and I suspect Zinchenko will be surplus to requirements. The latter two cost us nothing so that could see a £50m profit, plus the £35m+ from Sane.

No disrespect mate, but there are some major leaps here, even before you get to raising the cash:
- Where does 40m/year commercial income come from? Is this based on any precedents?
- Why would our owners do a deal that would lose them 9m/year?
- We create a squad with 1 Messi on very special terms and 23 other plebians. Sure recipe for team harmony?

Therws articles on upgraded sponsorship deals Juve got last year signing Ronaldo. I don’t think 40m would be too difficult. Jeep more than double their kit deal with Juve after he go there.

There's a gazillion articles on the internet. I'm interested in seeing the arithmetic that credibly gets to 40 mill

Lot's of if's and if your having to sell players to do this deal, it's not something we should be doing.

I would love to see Messi here but not at all costs, despite who the player is, and not at his age.

Jeep/Fiat the family business.

Could you imagine if Etihad did the same, UEFA and the hateful 8 would be all over us again.
