I think its worth a punt on those odds. I see it as slightly better than 50:50 we get him. Something like a 60% chance. This transfer is a legal dispute like no other. Footballers contracts are normally clear cut. There is a lot of confusion around release clauses as years back they were worded very loosely to the point they had practically no effect (or were even non existent and just a verbal agreement). The wording was lose it was almost like a clause agreeing that they would talk about it - well you dont need to put that in a contract. But in recent years they are much clearer and therefore in the players favour - you can always agree to do something outside of any release clause so the figure quoted does not preclude a sale for less (or even more if the wording is not binding). So I think he has a water tight get out clause (number 24 in his contract).

What makes this different is the extension of the season - there is no doubt that clause 24 is there and it states a date at which point he has to hand in written notification. But at this point the club was still in season and the intention of the date was that it would be post season. So most impartial lawyers would tell you Messi gets this decision in court and he can go for free.

And we don't know what the league and club did with regard to extending the season and contracts - they must have done something with regard to out of contract players and anything in writing would highly likely add to the messi case that he would already likely win.

So this all boils down to how hard does Messi want to push a case that would be him v's Barca. Well he thought pretty hard about that before he issued his letter and leaked a copy and we know what he wants. However a deal is easier all around, Barca are likely to want one but the fees will be way off, Messi thinks he can walk for free - Barca thing he is worth multiple millions. So the current talks are around the Messi camp wanting to agree a deal and Barca wanting to stay or go for a big number. If they break down without an agreement then it goes to a shit or bust court case or Messi just gives up and goes back to training.

because the press are so predictable & they know nothing. I would say the fact no information has been released it’s still 60/40 in our favour. The fact we still have silence is due to legal matters in my opinion

If his legal team are preparing a statement then that’s great news for us I agree. It will be a statement of fact rather than emotion which to me says he’s leaving Barca. Too big for messi or his dad to say anything. They will speak when he signs for us hopefully
