IMO this just closes the door to him walking for free, If the club REALLY wants him, then the next play will be to start negotiating.

It's clear he was hoping that he would be able to leave for free, but there is no way messi and his team didn't consider that barca would fight this and he had hoped the club wouldn't pull this kind of move. I assume on our side we did see this coming and it's why we've downplayed any links to him as much as possible, knowing that barca would be even less likely to let him walk if they knew he was going to reunite with pep and some of the other barca old boys.

He makes it very clear in the message that he loves the club and that he's very much being not allowed to leave, feeding even more into the hate the current president has from the fans.

Remember messi is a player the club have sought after for a long time, and they have never been this close to getting him, I fully expect us to start negotiating with barca for him now.

Taking free off the table would have been Bartomeus number 1 priority but it’s hard to see him engaging in negotiations now. It’s suicidal but their entire stance has made no sense from the beginning. Just don’t see how he now pivots to selling him when Messi takes litigation off the table. It was the strongest (but most risky) leverage he had and he just gave it away
 
He wants out ,but doesn't want a legal battle with the club he loves over the 700million fee to move, so stays until the summer when it starts all over again.

I have severe ADHD. My reading comprehension is beyond appalling and I know I’ll zone out after the first few sentences. Thus, my opinion on this matter is likely to be utter tripe.

He’s also left the president a way to come out of this in a better light, save his reputation by doing the right thing.

Barcelona president is thick skinned asshole.
I bet he doesn't care ine bit and would be laughing his off now. He basically got what he wanted. He knows he is gone anyway

Nothing over these past weeks suggest Barcelona are even capable of doing the right thing. He is criticizing them but just said he’ll stay until 2021.

The club got what they wanted and they knew all this time they were holding him against his will.

There won’t be another twist to this. Game over.
 
When he signs a new contract which he will soon. We are being used in his game yet again,Messi isn't leaving Barcelona he never was. Supposed ITK's can keep this going if they like but lets move on.
