Pathetic to see the Brexit Brains Trust queuing up to defend the government’s proposal to break an international agreement, particularly one that they were all wetting their pants with excitement over when Johnson presented it as a huge victory over the EU last year, even though it effectively ceded NI to the EU.

The GFA is collateral damage.

The government is saying it intends to break international law by unilaterally amending a treaty that says it can't be unilaterally amended.

Sovereign Parliament can do whatever the fuck it wants. That's what we got told last year as it did its very best to reverse brexit and it was roundly applauded by many on here.

Breaching International law is something many countries are accused of. The EU was accused of doing so last year re the migrant crisis, as was Norway.

It's the new bone for you all to chew on for a few days and throw around which i get and understand but as of right now, have we broken International Law and if we have, how?

If we haven't and this is a negotiating tactic, that i will admit then feel free to say that.

It seems to be those already talking about not giving in to terrorists (which rather ignores how we got the GFA). But it's not the main issue. It's a possible consequence of wanting to break the WA treaty.

I can’t quite understand why the Brexiteers are acting like we haven’t and are happily embracing a stated intention to break an international agreement to achieve something that’s already happened. It’s almost like they’ve been brainwashed.

Like I said. Let's see who stoops low enough to mobilise the GFA as leverage in the negotiations - it might be Boris for all I know, we'll just have to wait and see. Then we can all have a great discussion about ethics, integrity, and agreements.
