Todays 14 England hospital deaths were aged between 41 and 93. All had known underlying health problems but you will notice that from weeks when they were almost all over 60 a few younger deaths have started to creep in this week too. And ones without known conditions have popped up, though still rarely. As numbers rise both these things will be less rare.

The Northern Ireland data should convince any doubters in here. Two deaths. They had zero deaths for months until very recently. Now they are coming every few days.

Also 163 cases at 3.8%. Highest here I have seen and probably where the true figure is in England by now.

Moreover the rolling weekly average is a new record of 763.

And worse still 21 in hospital but now 4 on ventilators - highest here since 15 June.

As I told you in a post yesterday these dates will keep on slipping backwards as we go up the curve.

If we get anywhere near to April numbers we are in big trouble. So action to slow this down is now inevitable.

So on this bleak day and for the first time since I do not recall but a while all four nations had at least one death today. That too sadly will become the norm unfortunately not a rarity.

So 18 UK hospital deaths today. Versus 9 last Friday.

That became 6 under all settings but the numbers have been rising of late out of hospital (home deaths and care home deaths). So not expecting that today.

Cases for the three nations are 551 versus 396 this time last week.

The %rates have risen from 1.5% to 1.8% in Wales. 1.1% to 3.8% in N Ireland. And 2.7% to 4.4% in Scotland.

No wonder seeing those numbers there will be panic in government today.

Last week England added 3143 cases to take us to 3589. I will be surprised if we do not top 4000 today and if we do escape that it may well be because of the bodged testing strategy.

Not looking forward to the GM picture.

Northern Ireland health Minister says there are 27 ongoing outbreaks in this tiny province that had about 3 people in hospital, nobody on ventilators and zero deaths across most of the Summer.

And has warned they are 'on a knife edge' and a nation wide lockdown may be necessary unless people respond.

Don't be too despondent we have had deaths every day for the past 4 months in one city namely Melbourne Australia as is the case in many cities throughout the world.

Over half the infections come from USA , Brazil and India in the past 30 days but they all attempt to live life as normally as possible.

We have been in lockdown longer than any other place on this planet to date and have another 6 weeks of this rubbish to put up with.

Far more though from other diseases and I mean far more but you won't here the media crowing about them.

Thank you for the kind concern. I have family in Melbourne and know the problems there. And I am not despondant. Just realistic. Certainly do not want another lockdown as we will be paying for it forever if we do. But there are limited things you can do when numbers start rising with six months of Winter still to come. At least in Australia they have Summer weather due to mitigate things. And by winter over there we will hopefully have a vaccine. So they could be over the worst whereas we are on the edge of a cliff and could fall over or get pulled back. And right now it is unsure which way we will tip.

I wouldn't bank on a vaccine any time soon if at all as we are yet to develop an effective vaccine to corona viruses.

The good news is this virus can be treated with much reduced risk of serious consequences if you get to it early enough in those that are most at risk namely those with respiratory comorbid frailties.

One of the disadvantages is that for many mostly the under 40's you can have and spread the virus without knowing you have it such is the nature and for the vast majority that show symptoms they are mild even milder than the common cold.

It will eventually like all of them die a natural death.

I think just using common sense by socially distancing and sanitization should limit the spread.

I hate it when my predictions come true.

But all setings deaths up again to 27. And 4322 new cases - record high from UK and England 3771 cases.

The regional scoreboard is horrendous, as I am sure you would expect.

London 377 - up from 247 but was higher twice last week.

Midlands 469 - up from 339 - so big rise here to highest yet.

Yorkshire 517 - up from 402 and by 6 higher than 2 days ago to set new record.

But NW yet again obliterated any records. Up from 932 to 1402 - a 50% rise and a new record from the 1290 of two days ago.

So the NW had almost one third of all the cases in the UK today.

Scary news and the GM scoreboard is not going to be pretty,

GM scorebard as you can imagine is bad and easily a new record at 649 (of the 1402 NW cases) - well up on the 516 (out of 1290) of two days ago and at a higher percentage of the NW total than then to over 45% from 40%.

For the first time I can remember every single GM borough went up - some considerably. Record totals occurred in several places. And if I tell you Trafford was still best and it set a new record for cases there too, you know it is a bad day. And whatever our restrictions are supposed to be achieving they appear to be failing as it is now over a month in and every borough is going fast in the wrong direction.

Won't be able to provide the age ranges of new confirmed Scottish infections until Sunday night, sorry. As stated before I'm literally lifting someone else's work (TravellingTabby.com) and the person behind the site has family commitments until that point.

It baffles me why when they introduce measures, they allow people 3 days to go out and get hammered.
Or the measures they introduce seem completely clueless like the Lancashire (excluding Blackpool) restrictions. I live on the part of the Fylde Coast that comes under Lancashire not the Blackpool Unitary Authority but if anyone wants to have a late night drinking session from Tuesday all they have to do is hop on a bus or tram into Blackpool. What's the point of having "restrictions" that are so easy to bypass for thousands of people?

A different type of vaccine to be released for the end of the year in the states - fingers crossed -

Moderna plans to produce 20m vaccines by the end of the year
The US biotech company Moderna has announced that it expects to produce 20m doses of its experimental coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year, Reuters reports.
The announcement, made in a filing with US securities regulators, comes after Moderna’s chief executive, Stephane Bancel, told Reuters on Thursday the company plans to seek emergency authorisation for the vaccine’s use in high-risk groups if it proves even just 70% effective.
Moderna has never brought a vaccine to market, but has received nearly $1bn from the US government under its Operation Warp Speed programme and has also struck a $1.5bn supply agreement with the US.
The vaccine aims to use messenger RNA (or mRNA for short) to trick recipients’ bodies into producing viral proteins themselves. No mRNA vaccine has ever been approved for an infectious disease, but proponents say it could be easier to mass produce than traditional vaccines.
The company continues to expect to make 500m-1bn doses of the vaccine in 2021, Moderna said in the filing on Friday.

Few alarm bells ringing in there! Anti vaxers will have a field day.

The real number is probably nearer to 8500 cases today, as I’d much prefer to trust the ONS and the Covid symptom study numbers than anything the government puts out.

What I would say is that everyone should download the Covid symptom app and report on it, once a day if possible. The website is linked and the app links are on the first page.
