Just imo but from Pep's comments today I think we might be done with signings. Seems resigned to the fact he's stuck with what he's got.
Time to promote the likes of Tosin, what's the point if we never give these lads the chance to shine ?
Also I'm surprised we haven't sold any players to clear the way for new signings.

Surely this Delap kid in the youth will make the first team squad? Can’t go a month maybe 2 with one striker. Don’t wanna see us fucking about playing foden/Sterling striker etc

Looking forward to seeing what Ake and Torres are all about.
I have a good feeling about both of them. No logic, but my instincts have been pretty good in the past.
Ppl should not underestimate Ake and Torres was wanted by several big clubs, but he was in no doubt as to following his hero to City.

Can’t say that I’m looking forward to this season. Lack of top quality signings, already missing key players, lost David Silva who is irreplaceable, main opponents making good signings etc. This is starting to feel like it’s a ‘transition’ season. I’d take a draw on Monday.
Transition from a top club to mid table?

I'm going for a win based more on faithvthan conviction. There is or at least should be a new reality that we will need to fight extra hard to win the league this season. We appear to be entering this race in a somewhat weaker position then of late but we still have a lot of talent at our disposal and if we attack each game in a determined fashion we can still prevail.

It won’t be a month or two, it will be the majority of the season if we’re not very very lucky. His injury is a bad one and he’s not young enough to shake it off.

Ederson, Walker, Fernandinho, Ake, Cancelo, Rodri, Foden, KDB, Torres, Sterling, Jesus

Subs: Steffen, Mendy, Zinchenko, Garcia, Stones, Gundogan, Mahrez

Not the strongest line up and clearly shows we need to get moving in terms of signings.
With that line up we are screwed

Cant wait for rodri and gundogan to start in midfield together, whoopdedoo

Gundogan is better than Thiago and he was the world's best player at the back end of our 2018/19 title run and Dinho is old and can't run and he gets picked by Pep and Nose Picking Bum Sniffer so he must good and you're just scapegoating him like everyone else who doesn't know the game.

Have I missed anything?

Sterling - Jesus - Bernardo
Foden - Fernandinho - De Bruyne
Cancelo - Aké - Garcia - Walker
Ederson

Too early to introduce Ferran. Bernardo and Foden will help a lot with pressing. Fernandinho to provide better cover of the back four, Cancelo to continue leftback because he did so well.

We could also see Fernandinho at right-sided CB and Rodri as defensive mid for added physicality.

We should win with that lineup.

Hi pep!

No I am Eric or Sergio so

Eddie
Walker
Stones
Ake
Cancello
Rodri
DeBruyne
Bernardo
Sterling
Jesus
Foden

We need to start trusting bernardo can replace silva long term in that position rather that rotating him as a winger with mahrez, also I expect both cancello and rodri now settled after a season to push on so show confidence and start them from the begining.

Wouldn't even entertain using garcia.

We will win imho

Wow, reading this thread I’m rapidly coming to the decision that it’s time to throw in the towel and get ready for Championship football in 21/22!
Can we not get a few games over and done with before we give up please? JMHO

I’m looking forward to this now, even though it will obviously be a difficult game. There seems to be a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment, so a good start to the season will help lift spirits. I’m hopeful that we’ll be pleasantly surprised on Monday evening. This is the team I’d like to see:

Ederson
Walker
Fernandinho
Ake
Mendy
Rodri
De Bruyne
Foden
Mahrez
Sterling
Jesus

I imagine Gundogan will get the nod over Foden though.

Fernandinho? Strange choice.

I share your hope that we are going to be pleasantly surprised but I'd rather have Stones and Cancelo over Fernandinho and Mendy. It's normal to have Gundogan in there too since we are playing with an experimental CB pair against a good attack and need more stability, e.g. by employing a double pivot.

Fernandino didn't perform well at CB last season and there is no reason to extend the experiment imo. I'd have Garcia or Stones over him. Pep went with Otamendi over Ferna at Bernabeu and that was the right decision.

That's probably what Guardiola will go with but I'd have Bernardo in place of Mahrez and Stones in for Fernandinho.

Cannot see Mahrez being fully fit if he had Covid and am suprised since most who get it suffer after that any sport person would be fully fit straight after,

If Fernandinho starts at CB I’ll have no hope. The definition of insanity is trying the same thing again and again and expecting different outcomes.
