Jules Koundé

Why are you obsessed with height? Puyol 5ft 8 one of the best CBs in the world in his time, Cannavaro 5ft 7 again world class CB. Kounde 5ft 10 hes a brilliant CB that uses his brain also can jump very high out jumping Dzeko in their game. He reminds me massively of Puyol. Height isnt everything dont give premier league shit saying forwards will bully him etc Kounde marked Lukaku out of the game whos one of the strongest stikers in the world.

"Obsessed" is a bit much mate, call it what it is: a concern! It's a hugely important signing so we need to get this right. I know the club have all these advanced scouting systems and analysts so it's probably safe to say we're in good hands. Still, we don't seem to have a clear profile of what we are looking for. Last summer, we were after a huge Maguire who's not known for being the most smooth and pacy defender. All summer it's been about Koulibaly (pro-active, aggressive, fast, big, proven, leader etc) and now with Koundé, it's an entirely different defender: a reserved young prospect, small, unproven, leader(?).
It's just not a very clear profile we're after.

This is the first right-sided CB-signing since Stones in 2016 where we have massive money to improve on this position (except Garcia if that counts). Koulibaly (who ticked all boxes in my book) seems gone and looking at the market this window (Dias, Skriniar, Koundé, Gimenez etc), then Koundé from a quality standpoint seem to be the best choice. Still, I can argue for the money we're about to spend, we should find someone who has all of the attributes and not possess what could be a clear disadvantage. We know the Prem is very physical. La Liga is not.

Mate, I don't think it's fair to say he reminds you of Puyol. Right now the only thing they have in common is their height. Koundé has played 29 games for Sevilla. Puyol was one of the best ever for many years in Barcelona.
I obviously want to be wrong about my concerns and my feelings about Koundé are far from hopeless. I think he looks amazing. We'll see if he turns out who we all hope for.

Koulibaly joining PSG in the next 48 hours according to French sources. I think Koundé is as good as done after Super Cup. Sevilla posturing to squeeze slightly more.

If Kounde is joining City then surely he will not feature on Thursday night. Sevilla cant take the risk on losing out on €60m-€65m on Kounde picking up an injury.

I just feel we have another prick to deal with now. First ADL and now this guy. A professional sporting director doesn’t go out in public with comments like these. He just wanna look like a macho man. Could never see Txiki do the same.

And he seem to refer to the release clause of 90m euros. There’s no fucking way we’re paying that money for Koundé. He looks promising but we could have gotten De Ligt last summer with that money.

I take it you’ve never been involved in a negotiation?

where are PSG getting the cash from then?
They’ve got wages headroom having unloaded Thiago Silva. The fee effect is amortised over 5 yrs as you know & they did just get to a Champions League final so are as well placed as any to extract more than an equal share of revenues in the market.

What are those French sources ? I have only seen one source about that theme and it was The Telegraph. They said nothing about him joining in the next 48 hours.
