I’ve had enough. I won’t be listening to the government anymore.

I’ll do my bit, sanitise, wear a mask in shops and try to avoid crowds where possible but I’m getting on with my life, whole thing is a sham and the leadership has been utterly laughable.

I praised Boris and his chums a few months ago as it was all “unprecedented” but they’ve had time to get things right and they are failing time after time.

People have had enough.

The Kier Starmer question remains the key. Why are cases still escalating in Greater Manchester despite requirements such as these for many weeks? It does not inspire confidence these tweaks will suddenly turn the corner. But let''s hope they are right and they do. Or the 'second wave' resolves itself anyway as less harmful - which is not impossible.

There is only one strategy. To suppress it and save as many lives as possible whilst keeping the economy above water until we get a vaccine. Not likely to be before March on a wide enough basis to make a big difference except to NHS staff and vulnerable who may get it a few weeks earlier.
Well he didn't say that did he? If we are just putting all our eggs in one basket then our politicians must be more even more stupid that we thought. You can't just dismiss the relative success (compared to us) that other countries have had in controlling this virus. We haven't even got a functioning app to help trace people in England.
Meanwhile Ian Blackford stood up and said: "This virus is just as deadly." All the authenticated evidence suggest that is just not true. The death per infection rate is much lower now than before for a variety of reasons including better treatments, proper use of ventilation etc etc. Short term knee-jerk responses backed up by a shambolic comms campaign is not my idea of a long-term strategy. Suppressing infections can only be one part of a much bigger picture.

Thanks for advice
It's very much a day by day thing at the moment. I run a lot but lots of days when i really wonder is it all worth it anymore. My dad died last year my mum died when I was 24. And now this horrible lockdown I just dont see the point anymore but I'll try and get myself in a better place.

Mate, if you ever wanted to call me just to chat or speak on PMs, I will be there.

Very sorry to hear you are struggling and have been for while. I had some very dark thoughts about ending it all during the last couple of years, feeling helpless and depressed about life in general, nothing to look forward to.

I went to my doctor and she put me in touch with a CBT therapist. Really just being able to talk to someone who did not know me really helped me to think about some situations in a different way.

Some of the negative thoughts started coming back during this current crisis but I tell myself how far I have come, try to take myself out of my own head.

I have an amazing wife and kids but I still needed to do this for myself and them. We all have our own paths to walk, we all assume everyone else's is so much better or easier.

The truth is that most of us have to fight every day to move forward. You have suffered tremendous loss and some of the best advice I can offer it just try to be kinder to yourself. We are living in extraordinary times.

You have lost both parents, you are living a global pandemic. Sounds to me like you are strong as fuck - stronger than many - strong enough to beat all this shit.

Take care of yourself, blue.

well thats not the kids fault is it ?

Hence why I explicity said "the responsibilty lies with the parents."

My point was that closing or reducing numbers in schools DOES NOT MEAN they are "not being educated".

It seems to be an easy out that "we can't miss anymore education" - none was missed during lockdown #1, it was all available, just the onus shifted more onto the parents, plenty of whom it appears simply could not be arsed enforcing any home learning.

other countries ?

there are only two other countries in The world , Spain and France

Unfortunately schools, work etc are essential.

This all centres around the R rate, and getting it back below 1.

So if we've got an R rate of 1.1 at the moment (conservative), 0.3 or more of that might be due to schools and work, but if we can slice off 0.11 from reducing pub hours and other non-essential things, then you can get the R rate down below 1 again without having millions of kids at home.
The R rate is 1.1- 1.4

I don't know anyone who has stuck to the rules that came in for Greater Manchester, lockdown is over and I don't see us ever going back into it without it being policed heavily.

Winter is going to be grim

You haven’t got the point, it isn’t the kids fault.

so when little Jonny finishes school at 16 with nothing it will be a great comfort to him to say , sorry you have failed your exams but blame your parents . thats going to help with social mobility isn’t it.

kids need to be in school and learn because some parents are either lazy or not too bright .

thats not the kids fault.
