Leicester City (H) Post Match Thread

Mendy has always gotten away with it because of his injury.

Barring a lamentable first-half showing from us in the loss at Monaco and 20, rinse and repeat crosses in an opening day win at Arsenal, he has never shown anything that justified a £50m purchase.

His deficiencies are many and aren't because of injury or now fitness, it's because he can't defend and isn't particularly quick running back to his own goal.

Same goes for Garcia, runs in treacle and because he came from Barca, somehow gives him a stamp of quality.

Pep went down in my estimation when he picked him for the Lyon game.

Sadly, it is one of many poor errors of judgment during this year.

I genuinely don't see how having two fit strikers today would have made any difference to the result in terms of legislating for other players on the pitch who just aren't nowhere good enough for present Manchester City.

fully agree

midfield is a concern - very slow and pedestrian -Rodri tries but just isnt dynamic

Ive said for 2 seasons what a liability Mendy is and NOTHING has been shown to change my opinion.

Rodri is a one paced donkey with zero positional awareness and not an ounce of leadership quality.

Put him in front of Garcia who was doing his best Stones shirk responsibility and back off and off impression, chuck in complete defensive liability Mendy and all while playing a high line and you have an absolute shitshow at the back. Fucking shambles.

No idea how this lad from Benfica is going to change this mess.

Pep has to take responsibility for this shitshow too. These are his players and he's responsible for putting them together into something resembling a decent or vaguely competent defence.

I want to say "its only one game" but we've seen this one game a dozen times now.

Injuries are for sure an issue. CAS I'm sure caused uccertainty and altered plans.

But the squad needs investment and Pep really needs to sort the defence out and work on a plan b. Other teams have figured us out and we need to be able to show something different.

We are so pedestrian sometimes. Can i point out two things that will maybe trigger some people but its wound me up.

1. Walker - makes mistakes that cost goals.. Whether its like today, or playing someone onside. His chase backs are eye-catching but personally i think hes past his best and said so in the player forums a few weeks ago.

2. Mahrez at 1-1 shoots when playing Phil in is pretty much a guaranteed goal. So for every moment like the first 5 mins today he does something greedy that negates it.

Disorganised, unbalanced, careless, too passive. The 3 stooges giving away soft penalties. Fernandinho, Sterling, Foden, Mahrez, De Brunye, Garcia, Rodri all way below what is required. Collectively an Absolute shocking performance. Fernandinho should have put us 2-0 up, then it’s a different story. However after that, Leicester sensed we had nothing and upped their game and we started doubting ourselves, standing off them until it’s too late. Needs addressing quickly.

Pep and the players should take a long hard look in the mirror, that performance was unacceptable.
Feels like the end of an era

Congratulations Liverpool on another title. Txiki has to be sacked. Utter incompetence from him and the board. How have we gone 4 seasons without a LB and an entire season without a RCB? Why haven’t we signed other players? The midfield is lightweight at the moment. Serious contempt from our board.

Instead of congratulating them, why don't you go and 'support' them? Fans like you who throw the towel in after TWO GAMES are the last thing City need right now.

Mendy is a **** of a player, the dumbfuck was smiling after conceding the penalty. Please get the fuck out of the club you clown faced donkey.Injuries are a hindrance yes but what about the shit performances Sterling has delivered in every important matches? What about the donkey Garcia ?Even a rock will perform same as Garcia if you hit the rock you can atleast get a decent pass back although its a non-living thing.

Quality post. Made me laugh which after that result is a good thing. Cheers mate

We needed this. It should be a massive wake up call. Lack of pace at the centre of defence continues to be our achilles heel. It’s only made worse by insufficient pace and energy at the CDM position and a brainless left-back.

Dias won’t solve anything. A pair of Laporte and Dias is more worrisome than the centre-back pairing we played today. Player recruitment, particularly when it comes to defensive areas, has been abysmal. That won’t change until the people making those decisions changes.

Perhaps this will be a reality check for a lot of people. We’ll be scraping for top-four this season, not challenging for the title let alone the Champions League. The weaknesses that were glaringly obvious last season remain. Not even Messi can paper over these issues.
Again doom and gloom from you. Scraping for top four? Seriously? Wow

Spot on

We had no Mancini signings playing today

end of an era . We have relied on these players too long and not adequately replaced them.

aguero, de jong , Kompany, yaya, Zab .

aguero last one and injured today .

our transfer strategy since him has been a bit shite
You can safely say Pellegrini and Mancini signed better players than Pep
