thing is if we ship this guy out, who do we replace him with? and will we get the 50 million paid.

I cannot or do no see him fitting into current system. He suits a team playing typical 4-4-2, and with his whipped in crosses (when on point) requires someone like Wilson, carroll etc who get on the end of his crosses

we wont get the money back. prob go for 15/20 at max.

replacements? Chilwell was one.

Utter bullshit. He was incredibly exciting when he joined. I get people don't like him now, as he does look shite, but the revisionism just isn't needed. In his first few games he grabbed loads of assists, bombed forward loads with pace and actually beat people. He was mega useful going forwards and actually had pace too. Injuries have ruined him but I'm so tired of all this nonsense about him always being crap. It's just bollocks.
Yep he was exciting those 1st 4 games but he didnt grab loads of assists.
He’s up to a total of just 8 assists in the league in 3 seasons.

17/18 1
18/19 5
19/20 2

We bought him because he and fabinho (playing RB) destroyed us (also mbappe). Now he is utter utter wank due to the injuries. No fucker would touch him with a barge pole and we're stuck with a 50M LB on 100K+ wages a week. Hopefully, he'll end up being a backup option and we'll get a new LB before the window closes.

I have literally no idea what point you think you're making, or why you're making it to me, as I'm certainly not defending Mendy *now* in any way shape or form.

Similarly I have no idea about your point referring to Mendy the player we signed.

I only recall a handful of games where he looked decent even prior to injuries.

Also I don't know how injuries can affect his delivery of the ball? Despite the arguments about loss of pace, athleticism etc he still gets into excellent attacking positions but invariably his delivery is worse than Navas.

He played in FOUR games before he got injured

Bournemouth away where he was average
Liverpool at home where he looked good going forward but was a liability at the back
Watford away was a great performance by him but Watford were well beaten

Feyenord away was a decent performance

When we signed him he was seen as a good attacking full back who was a liability at the back

he had also had a couple of knee injuries before we got him

all in all he has been a disaster, as bad as Mangala

I just can’t believe we are here three years later and haven’t corrected that mistake , surely we should have signed a left back by now ?
I’m with you now, I find it completely inexplicable that we haven’t signed a new left back. But he looked excellent in the games he played when he arrived and for the full season before that. Should’ve clarified that I meant his time at Monaco also.

I’ve defended him to the hilt as I was convinced he’d come good, but it just isn’t happening is it? He’s getting worse even with a run of games behind him. Big mistake not getting a quality left back in and I can’t believe there isn’t a better one out there. Still can’t believe we didn’t persevere with Angeliño. I’d put him 4th choice behind ake, Cancelo and even Zinchenko now

Would br first out the door for me....
Stealing a living.....worst signing since the takeover.
Should never play again

The first game he played for us I came on here and said his delivery was shit and he, more often that not, kicked the ball far to hard. He literally has no understanding of "weight of pass".

He still has no understanding of it.

He’s shite now, nothing more nothing less. He will never get it back, the injuries have turned him into a pub league player.

It’s not just the injuries. It’s his brain and his abject technique. He crocked himself originally against Palace with a ludicrous “wrong foot” tackle that was only ever going to result in his own knee getting bent outside to in, and the useless fucker still attempted the same thing last season at Stamford Bridge, which led inevitably to Chelsea scoring. He’s an absolute car crash of a player who offers nothing either offensively or defensively. Sadly we’re stuck with him, cos I can’t envisage that there’s another team out there who would give us so much as a tenth of what we paid for him

Yep.

What annoys me, and it’s not just with Benji, is how come we know it yet people paid millions to deal with him don’t?

Sometimes you’ve just got to take the hit and get rid, he’s a liability.

Again, it's very clear that he just isn't good enough. Like the Wolves game, he looks like he has no idea how to play football at times. That's not even an exaggeration.

Of course the 2 knee injuries must have had a big impact. But even without them, i don't think Mendy had the best of techniques or the footballing intelligence even before the injuries.

In other words, he probably would have been a flop anyway. Just like at least 50% of Pep's and Txiki's signings.

So Angelino wasn‘t good enough? Mendy finished his career when he joining this club.
