Exciting, eh?

None of these drawn out Koulibaly bollocks, just good old fashioned get it done.

Sometimes we can think too long about players when the opportunity and solution might just be about the timing being right.
Totally agree,Garry Cook style, but seriously, what has happened to our approach to transfers?

Something has drastically changed, are we not prepared to spend or is the DOF complacent/incompetent?

Something very different in the way we negotiate these days, and it's not good for the club.

I’m sure he’ll play at Centre Half a lot - but once Laporte is back in the game, Ake isn’t a player you want sitting on the bench game after game.

I’m sure he’d get a chance - then it’s up to him to make himself undroppable!

Hope so as I reckon he at least adds more physical presence and dynamism in there than Rodri or Gundo

Tagliafico and Dias solve absolutely nothing in front of goal when we cannot score against a low block for love nor money, let alone get out worked by many teams in the league. Unless something changes up front, the defence will be the least of our concerns
You have to keep in mind that our offensive players would be more relaxed with proper defence behind. Everyone knows our defence is shit and the players feel more stressed.

We still spend plenty, but we have chosen to buy quantity, rather than absolute top quality, in recent seasons.

Perhaps we try to be a little too smart for our own good, or we just want perceived value for money.

There really isn't much value for money in the market these days remember, even bang average players cost £35m upwards.

I'd have liked to have seen us shopping a little more in Germany and France since Pep came. The Spanish national team is on a downward spiral because La Liga is.

Not sure I totally agree on that. Our offensive players aren’t pressing from the front like they used to. Jesus works tirelessly, and has many many flaws, but he’s the only one that presses in a mould similar to 17-19 standards. And doing that is totally pointless when it’s a one man press as it gets played through. Let alone creatively, as soon as ideas are lost, cross, move and hope for the best. There’s no fluidity in much of the attack anymore. That trademark tap in is gone. And the problem solving is almost gone. There’s no denying how bad it is at the back, but the top end get away with so much criticism too.

You get what you pay for, especially when you have to replace the legends that we have lost/losing recently.

We have replaced with lesser players, hence the decline and other teams catching us rapidly.

And after Pep's time in Germany he should have known lots of top young players over there.

Most of our legends were 'lesser' players when we bought them

But we tried to. Just like we tried to sign Jorginho and Sanchez. Other clubs signing/hijacking our targets have spared us from a number of additional flops.

Or maybe players would have done better at City than elsewhere? Sanchez has been brilliant in Italy, and joins a long list of players who went to United with big reputations, did awfully, and have been back to their best since leaving.

They were high quality players and under the coaching of Mancini and then pep became even better.

At the moment we sign players who seem to go backwards in terms of development more than forwards.

The loss of Arteta has hurt us, great individual coach , whom the players clearly liked and respected, also a person who challenged Pep.
