For me I think it’s really obvious we need another top class attacking midfielder to replace David Silva. If KDB gets injured we’re in serious trouble. I dont think Foden is being primed for the AM role we thought, it seems Pep prefers him as a false winger.

That Mendy explanation is fitting for *last* season. He spent both of 17/18 and 18/19 injured, so 19/20 was meant to be his final chance - the season to see if we could rely on him. That’s why Angelino was brought in; he was emergency cover for only last season in case Mendy got reinjured while we were testing out his fitness. But by the end of the season it should’ve been clear that while he can stay fit now, his ability is gone, and a replacement would be needed. If it’s true that they were going to wait until summer 2021 then that’s just........ yeah. Bad.

Sped up a potential hunt for a LB that they were considering putting off until next summer. Obviously take it with a pinch of salt, but at least we don't have to wait long to see if anything comes from that.

Pep instructing the defenders to give away those penalties to speed up recruitment would make more sense than 3 professional defenders making the same unnecessary cock up 3 times in 90 minutes.

Thanks for the info. This tallies with the rumours that Zinchenko is being hawked around. It’s a shame that we don’t seem to be addressing the obvious issues in midfield and that we’re leaving this so late. Hopefully we get it sorted.

To be fair, we tried to sign Denis Zakaria from BMG before UEFA banned us, but something clearly changed after that.

Weirdly the club know the issues but are so slow in fixing them. Its bizarre.

I feel really sorry for Mendy, he was amazing at Monaco and he seems like a really nice guy in the changing room, but injury after injury has ruined him. i wonder if its not just physically its ruined him but mentally. Maybe hes scared to try and make those runs which he did at Monaco as he dosent trust his knee, injuries like that would probably affect your mental badly i suppose.

A lot of people forget that Silva was used as a winger in his first season and he was 24. Expecting Foden to go in there and play like DS did from 25 onwards is expecting a bit much at rhe present time, I would have thought?

Yeah, I think our midfield will look better when Bernardo comes back into the fold. I expect he'll be a starter for us when fit.

I don't think it's in any way ideal, but I can't see another one being signed with Gundo/Ferna still here.

I have high hopes for Doyle too and think he should be given a good go this season. I think he's got the ability to be a decent, energetic option in a midfield too alongside Rodri.

Foden can do a job in centre midfield but not week in and week out. Personally think Bernardo is the man to make our central midfield tick and let KDB get forward.

Agree mate, playing like he’s trying to avoid contact all the time. Nothing seems instinctive as a result. Hard to Criticise him personally given his injuries. Going to be a mangala situation in the end to move him on when we have a replacement
