He will not likely feature now that City have considerable depth at CB, no logic to play a player who wants to leave as a result

No idea how his performances were noticably worse since Pep announced he was off when we already know the 1st half against Leicester he was arguably the best player on the pitch.

I reckon a number of Leicester players would challenge you on that “best player in the first half” comment....

Yer Dad's right, G. Modern parlance needs burying and those who coin it should be locked up in Dartmoor until they have eaten a rather voluminous dictionary. Whenever I'm filling in the team sheet on Cityzens I always say to myself "Who shall I have as Centre Half, and who will I put at Left Half". I always want Raheem at outside right or outside left.
Football went to the dogs when they replaced the casey with a balloon and “on me ‘ead pal” ceased to be a cutting edge tactic.

I headed one of those casey footballs when I was eleven - after it had been kicked around for an hour on Greenbank PF. I thought someone had hit me on the head with a sledgehammer. It was similar to heading a medicine ball that had been soaked in a bucket overnight.

Just after you posted this, there's a Brentford player having treatment because a PASS hit him on the head!

Fucking wuss.

I've noticed that a new 'con trick' when a ball is cleared from a penalty area is for one of the defenders to lie semi-dead feigning concussion. The ref stops the game and instead of continuing with a promising attack the attacking team gets a fuckin' drop ball! The 'concussed' player doesn't wobble off on unsteady legs, but sez he's alright and runs around for the rest of the game unimpaired.

My guy very quiet today. If they don't do it tomorrow, then they aren't going to do it without Zinchenko going. That's my gut feeling. I'd sit him in the stands but it feels like Pep doesn't want that.

Can’t rely on Mendy all season imo and zinchenko isn’t a LB!

Our current options are Mendy, Ake, Zinchenko and Cancelo.

From what we've seen of Ake so far and Mendy showing a few green shoots of recovery, I'm not going to be surprised if we don't go for anyone.

I'm sure both Aké and Cancelo are terrific leftbacks, but that's not the point. If we decide to not go for a leftback, then we have Mendy who Pep doesn't trust and we all know he won't be good enough this season. Leicester was just a hint of what's coming if we don't bench him. Then it's back to Zinchenko and he's not good enough either. Then it's either Cancelo or Aké, but then we are short on cover for Walker, Laporte and Dias. It's not a good situation. Aké is needed at centreback and Cancelo is needed as a rotation for Walker.

We have to get Tagliafico, or honestly anyone good enough to actually defend that area. 22m for Tagliafico is not pocket change but for his quality, it's nothing. Five full seasons with Tagliafico before turning 32 years old.
