Leeds United (A) Post Match Thread

Keep hearing about this legendary ruthlessness but then seeing the same issues on repeat. He's not coaching it out of them and we're setting up the same way.
I think he still is passionate and ruthless - I guess he had senior respected players who kind of helped him with motivation and pushing others to win - We are definitely in a period of change and that will take a bit of time. I look at what is wrong and it doesn't seem as bad as others are thinking. I will judge Pep more after 15-20 games and will only worry if nothing changes by then - it will help when we have at least one forward back. I hope by that time, with a fit squad, we won't be seeing Mendy or Mahrez too much.

Good news is I think - like Norwich away last year - we could have easily lost this game and didn't. For the first 20 and final 15 we looked more like it. Dias will grow into a leadership role, Torres will only get better and add another dimension and it was good to see the energy from Bernardo.

Says it all really...if nothing else we need a LB before window closes....

Phillips - Leeds targeted City defence

Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips said:

"We’re just happy to get a point against a really good side. We knew they have weaknesses defensively, which you don’t get too often when you're playing good teams like that.

fanny wipes ltd be doing a roaring trade tonight then, Leeds played well, they're a good side and full of energy, that was a tough game, stop being so fucking entitled
We’re entitled to expect some determination in our passing and movement and winning the ball back when we lose the ball. After we scored we showed not one fucking smidge of it until Bernardo came on.

Bluemoon’s favourite cheese on toast catchphrase for those who think it’s cool not to be pissed off when players are mincing around the pitch for an hour pops up on here too much.

Fucking too right my fanny needs wiping after seeing our middle hour display in that game!

so what do you expect then? you expect teams to roll over and give up? what are you criticising here? the manager? oh one of if not the most successful manager ever and certainly the most successful still working, the team, that team that won back to back titles, the first domestic quad ever and the team that has changed the way football in this country is played? you're deluded sunshine, or entitled, or both

We were only Agüero short of our full strength XI today.

Yes, but Dias, Torres, Ake and even Foden needs more time with the team.

Ederson
Walker---Dias----Laporte---Ake
-----------Fernandinho----------
----De Bruyne----BernardoSilva---
Sterling------Aguero-----Foden

That's a strong balanced side once it is fit and firing.

I thought we played well. Leeds are a v good team-v well coached; their play in transition is a joy. We have had no preparation for the season and numerous injuries. That was a very good game of football. The results will come especially when we get strikers back.

Very good post but knee jerk after games by quite a few of us even me is how it is now. It’s long season with a lot games in a short space of time we desperately need Jesus or Aguero back because tonight with Aguero in our team we would won that game.
I agree. This was a good post.

I think we peaked after the 6-0 Fa cup final and Vinny leaving. Baring a couple decent wins last season we’ve mostly been crap. We’ve spent huge money on the squad and it hasn’t shown that we can compete like we did in the past seasons.

I expect the world greatest football coach to use the players available in a way we don't lose games and concede goals against far lesser opposition.

Same sh1t every week, same mistakes

Uncharacteristic error ?. You mean becoming more common, fumbled one into the path of a Lyon player when he should of caught the ball, Southampton away. There racking up mate.
Is Eddie's middle name Pickford, as he's starting to rack up the same amount of fuck ups. But that said saved us from getting beat by the mighty Leeds

The Sterling pen was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Sterling goes to ground way too easily looking for a pen. Stay on your feet and try to score would be my advice. his first instinct is to earn a pen and not scoring.
Aguero would try to go on and make a shot while falling...

the handball imo is also not a pen because he was falling when it touched his arm. We saw some of these given previously but normal position of hands are different when falling or making a tackle/sliding in and it catches your arm in the middle of that.

Tackle on Bernardo imo a red card, very late and very dangerous with studs showing basically. Bernardo lucky not to get injury of that tackle.

Also the players confidence in our tactics is dropping quickly. They dont seem to be happy to play this expansive game with them going into panic mode as soon as they beat our midfield and arrive into our box.

While opponents confidence of doing well enough against City is growing. Thats the worst, tactically they manage to come up with a gameplan to hurt us, and if Leicester/Leeds can do it, top clubs will do it too.
They did alrady hence all the losses last season vs fucking Ole at the wheel, or 2x losses vs Wolves, or Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs etc.
Our record vs top6 was as bad as it gets.

This rot needs to stop before we end up in a battle for 4th place instead of fighting for the title until last round.
