Arsenal (H) Post match thread

We have proper footballers at the back now. They’ll probably have their moments at some stage but they all looked good today.

I‘ve been hoping to see Bernardo get serious game time and play his way back into top form. He took an important step towards that today.

Overall, a workmanlike rather than inspired performance but I’m happy to take that, and with it the three points.

where to begin? He flatters to deceive.

He had chances that he needs to be putting away.

He should pass to a player in a better position instead of shooting wide most of the time.

He does not do enough defensively.

Toothless up front and he is part of the problem.

Sane would of passed and silva but he does the step over and if he beats the man his final action is wrong. He either wastes the opportunity by shooting wide when he needs to pass to a player that will score.
ok

Not according to Martin Toilet.
Before tonight "Just 1 win so far"
"Worst start to season for years" (after 3 FFS)
"14th in the table"
"7 Goals conceded already this season"
I wonder if someone at Sky HQ is flipping through a book of City negatives and feeding them into Toilet's headset. If the old fool nods off then Neville takes over.
It was just annoying, constant wittering instead of commentating.

Anyone concerned that Kun might be handed a punishment, maybe even a one match ban for touching/grabbing that female ref?

People are making a huge deal about it on Twitter.
Because it was a woman you mean?
I’m sure male officials have been touched often in the past, without consequence.
That said, I cringed when I saw him do it. He shouldn’t have done it, and no official should be touched by a player - I’m surprised it isn’t in the rules. I reckon lots of park referees in particular would appreciate it. if it was.

Tactical genius from Pep.

Attackers far too loose in possession & a few misunderstandings at the back, but all in all, this stuff will win us the title, if we can win games 1-0 in difficult circumstances.

The other stuff will return.
We are nowhere near our best, but 3 points is all that counts. Defensively we look stronger with Dias making a difference and Ake played well. Jesus injury worries me and hopefully it is not as bad as Pep initially fears.

Looks like Delap will potentially get some game time over the coming months.

That was an enjoyable watch. Arsenal are decent now , but our discipline was brilliant. Bernardo Silva looks back to form and Dias and Ake look good acquisitions.
But the commentary from Neville and Tyler was so poor. We were winning but getti g all the negative comments.

No. He didn’t really grab her, he was pointing out he was off the pitch when the ball hit him. If she had a problem she would have flagged at the time.

I think any contact with a referee is an automatic yellow, according to the rules. I'm just wondering if there is a precedent for punishing a player for that retroactively.

A functional performance , where the result was all important , we are lacking flair at the moment not sure where it has gone because we have so many creative players , and this season is not going to be a cake walk if we keep on getting these injuries. A lot of our players suffering muscle injuries maybe our sports science/medical team need to be questioned.

I had a quick look through the rules earlier and couldn't find anything about touching a referee. Let's be honest, the only reason anyone is talking about this is because she's a woman. As others have said, other players touched the male referee during the same game and no-one gave a shit.

Similar to the rest of the games, although les dominant in first 30 mins, and less opened up as Arsenal got back into it. Far more solid without the likes of Mendy and Garcia, but Arsenal still cut through two easy with the two 1 on 1s.
