I don't think it's fake, but it was quickly pulled...

Sunak is worried we are running out of cash .... should have thought of that when they were shovelling BILLIONS to their mates for untendered contracts only for them to fail to produce the goods. Johnson will forever regret the use of the word "spaffed" as that will follow him round for the rest of his career.

Essentially, this was purely a negotiation around how much the tories were willing to pay in order to get local support for going into tier 3. It was never needed in order for the government to implement something. Burnham needs to keep hammering that point. That they were willing to give 60m if there was local support vs 22m without shows it was never about what it should have been - which is what they think is actually required for people to live through the lockdown.

It would still be tough times for a lot of people even with 60m of additional support. It’s going to be even tougher and even shitter with 22m. Meanwhile, only last week they gave a 100m contract to a company only set up in May by a Tory donor to provide PPE...

Do not let them change the narrative on this. This was the tories choice and no one else’s.

Im not ranting for a start, just offering up my opinion. I agree with Burnham re the money needed but disagree in the way he has sought to get it. I dont agree the risk for Burnham was low at all and neither do SAGE or the medical professionals dealing with it in Greater Manchester.
How was he expected to get a fair concession, just give in to a government who have been shafting Manchester for over a decade?

Burnham actually agreed with SAGE, unlike the government, but he knew/estimated that there was very little difference between Tier 3 and a complete lockdown, it was just about getting a fair crack of the whip for the government.

Did you note the support he has got from the majority of Northern leaders, even those from the Conservative’s?

This has been a shit show from start to finish and the only one that should be in the dock here is Boris Johnson.

Just checked if this was genuine. It’s just been taken down I presume on Supreme Leader Cummings orders.

It was real - it was tweeted by the chair of the society and then deleted by someone else who had access. Well, that is what the chair has said and he is not backing down on Twitter claiming that Boris is a charlatan.

Never forget how quick the bastards were to give £1billion to the DUP to prop up their government.

I dont have to speak to any fucker.

We have a welfare system for those in time of need. If someone wants to say its benefits then they are wrong.
I would suggest that the time of need is now and that the ‘Welfare System’ is not up to requirement. I know, my son has been made redundant to save the firm yet, 8 weeks later, he still has nothing to support his wife and 2 young kids.

At least they are savvy and have their house deposit money to fall back on, and somebody beyond that, but what about those who haven’t been so prudent, or not had the chance, where do they turn.

No need to answer, the above wasn’t really aimed at you, just a statement of how those in the North, not just Manchester, are suffering from the lack of investment in the area.

In much the same way Merseyside and Lancashire got theirs and once they got it, Greater Manchester and any other region would always get.

He gambled on getting everything he asked for and it didn't work out for him but as i keep saying, he has left himself open and the questions have already started to what will he do and how will he feel if the death rates sadly rise in the next few weeks and will he hold himself accountable.

This government will pin everything they can on him refusing to enter tier 3 from here on. That isn't my opinion, its a fact. I genuinely feel that at the start of this he held all the cards and should have played them a bit smarter knowing exactly what/who he was up against.

Its shit. My wife was made redundant whilst on the initial furlough. Luckily we have not had to try and claim for anything up to now but im under no illusions if we did, how fucking difficult it would be.

And it needs to be continuously mentioned that when they do, it’s a false narrative as it was always in their control anyway, as shown today. They could have attempted to keep the higher ground had Johnson said 60m, given that’s what they offered for that local support. The moment they didn’t and said it was the figure it was, the whole thing is exposed as to what it was really about. Remember it isn’t just about whether it worked out for him or not. The tories not providing that additional 38m will have serious consequences directly on people’s lives over the next few months.

Some will still fall for it absolutely. I can’t see many though, it’s too brazen now.
