I hope we don't see too many games with rodri, gundo & mahrez starting. We are so pedestrian. They all slow play down, mahrez just isn't a team player. If I see 1 more pointless "lash it" shot against a defender because he can't be arsed passing after 15 stepovers causing a counter attack against us, I will end up smashing the TV. The guy sends me insane. He's greedy, he's lazy, he's inconsistent, he's a fanny, .
They are not a patch on dinho, dave and sane, our quality has taken a nosedive

Sergio Conceição: “He spoke about our country using ugly words. Guardiola’s attitude was extremely unpleasant. The whole #ManCity dugout was, because if anybody should have been complaining it was the FC Porto bench, because we were extremely hard done by.”

Porto manager, Sergio Conceição: “I’ve got a lot to learn from Pep Guardiola, in the way he pressures referees, talks to opposition players and opposition dugout. He’s a fantastic example. I have to learn this. We were angels compared to the other dugout

Pep probably said you manage a group of fannies

In these tight games, we miss the guile of David Silva. We are all hoping that Foden can developed his skill but to do that he has to demand the ball more, find the spaces to affect the game. I know he is young but so are a lot of great players. He has to stop thinking of himself as a youngster in a team of established internationals and show them that he is every bit as good.

Yip, agree with that.

Rodri looked much better after the substitutions but I couldn’t decide whether it was the change of our personnel/set-up or the fact Porto went more attacking.

Either way the game was much more enjoyable in that last spell.
Porto changed from 631 to pretty much a 424 which left more space for us to exploit

Very good result in the end. Thought Foden and Torres looked great when they came on. Gutted about Fernandinho's injury.

The one main criticism I have about last night was Bernardo Silva's positioning. Should have played more where he did against Arsenal where he was incredibly effective. Kept joining the attacking line and was too tightly marked to be be a play maker for large parts.

Walker was insanely good last night!

Jeez, I've just Googled that, what planet does he live on?

Cheers Oakie, I'll be down Altrincham every week.if we go into any bloody Euro league.
I`m hating the way football appears to be going mate and I certainly don`t enjoy CL games any longer. Its a cess pit of cheats, starting at the top and down to officials and players.Porto were a fucking disgrace last night with continual feigning injury and from a manager who seemed to encourage it.
Yes we got a penalty but by fuck was that ref shite.

The problem with Foden is that he`s wasted out on that left wing even though he had an assist.Much prefer to see him "roam".

Not having any of that really, he does demand the ball, and is always trying to make space .. Of course we are going to miss the guile I’d Silva..

I just don’t see young Phil as a natural replacement for David. Bernardo is far more suited imo to that role of shielding the ball, operating in tight spaces and making interceptions. Foden is a different, more direct type of player.

9 yellows in the last 2 games. The hidden agenda is truly up and running me thinks
Some of the fouls given against us there’s not even any contact. Racking up the free kicks while breaking up any momentum in our play. We’re then getting booked for second offences when there hasn’t even been a first offence yet. The last 20 mins of the first half in particular last night were frustrating. Also should Oepe not have been booked for diving, or do VAR deem it ok to dive cos there was an arm on his back. They decide to take the easy way out each time. It can’t be coincidence that we get corrupt officials and decisions every single game.

so he was, point still stands
Had one of ours given away a penalty, (and I’m sure he committed two penalty offences in that passage of play), a few other free kicks, been caught diving and then kicked a player on the ground, the city player would’ve been off probably before the last incident.

People say we give away cheap fouls , some maybe but mostly teams are told to fall downto stop our flow, it is a clear tactic
It’s why for the last couple of seasons there’s been a narrative about how Ferni is the master of the dark arts. It’s why they reference pep and arteta explaining tactical fouls.

It’s been set on every level, that we’re cheats, so that’s the general perception by a lot of football fans. Now football fans will believe it, despite the fact that tactical fouls have been part of the game for many many years now. It’s nothing new, every team has done it for decades.

But we get pin pointed and it does give the opposition a chance to get away with stupid non contact dives because the refs and opposing fans already have their perception.

How they’re getting away with implementing it to the point we’re consistently getting 5-6 bookings more then opposition teams who are literally trying to kick us off the pitch. it’s hugely frustrating and as I said previously, it can’t be a coincidence that this is the general formula for refs when officiating City. Or to be more precise officiating against City

He can't defend, at right back either. He's a remarkable defender, in that he can create a disaster from the most innocuous situations.

He's very very good going forward though & covers ground quickly, so that's the only role he should have, with anything he does defensively seen as a bonus.
Most definitely a new fangled “wing back,” not a RB in the traditional English sense. He doesn’t seem to understand the concept of where the defensive danger lies.

He is massively susceptible to the ball tucked in behind him, because he backtracking is horrendous, and him stopping and putting his arms behind his back on their goal made him less useful than one of those wall dummies they stick in the ground for free kick practice, as the Porto lad simply kept moving.

Goal reminded me a bit of Sergio at the Swamp, when we got that priceless mug shot of Phil Jones...but without a Phil Jones making the effort to stop him!

Maybe, Pep SHOULD be “teaching the tackles” to some players?!

And, while I’m on the subject, even though he had an overall excellent game, when is someone going to tell Kyle Walker to stop fouling, diving in, and sliding in in international competitions?

Last night’s ref was the most inconsistent, yellow card happy, idiot I have seen in quite some time! We were a Latvian whim away from red cards all over the park!
