What on earth does that have to do with it?
You can close borders very easily as an island.

Germany borders nine countries with multiple roads coming in from all of them. Very difficult to close their borders, especially with them being in the EU.

GM scoreboard total cases 2474 (v 2165 last Saturday and 2386 yesterday):

Manchester 400 - up from 392. Total cases 20, 412. Weekly 2886. Pop score up 72 to 3692. Weekly Pop down to 522.

Wigan 352 - up from 332. Total cases 10, 914, Weekly 2435. Never been so close to Manchester in weekly total. Pop score up 107 to enter the 3300 club at 3321. Weekly Pop up to 741.

Bury 178 - up from 157. Total cases 6504. Weekly 1167. Pop score up 93 to enter the 3400 club at 3405. Weekly Pop 611. Rising fast.

Trafford 160 - up from 149 but lowest in GM again. Total cases 6285. Weekly 1056. Best weekly total in GM quite comfortably now. Pop score up 67 to enter the 2600 club at 2648. Weekly Pop DOWN to 445. Well clear as best in GM this week and likely to be only one in the 400s tomorrow. But in the overall Pop Score they lost ground by 1 on Stockport today - first in the week. The gap is now 180.
Just a point of clarification (not with your data, but just in general) but they’re not actually ’cases’ are they? They’re positive tests using a diagnostic tool that isn’t really fit for purpose. They only become ‘cases’ when they actually need treatment and, on that basis we’ve had 1444 new cases today.

he did that’s why he stood for election . I wouldnt .
And it’s a total shit-sandwich of a job at the minute.. damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t..

I wouldn’t criticise anybody trying to handle this situation where a large chunk of the UK population are acting like cnuts with no consequences (apart from actually contracting covid) so he’s on to a loser whatever he does

but if it makes you feel better then you continue to complain about him...it’s easy to do that on the outside.. ask Captain Hindsight

Seems unclear atm.

According to Guardian

The situation is also a little unclear for kids’ sport. I am told there will be no exemption for under-18 indoor sport, but sport for under-18 team sport is undecided.

Wait and see methinks
It’s another joke, grassroots sport will have 22 lads or girls plus if lucky another 20 on the sidelines, and in the weather we’re getting they’ll be lucky if there’s that many, where as elite clubs will have hundreds together, 4th officials will show us how not to wear a mask correctly and they’ll all be high fiving each other as usual. Then they’ll wonder why people tony follow the rules.

Boris said you should remain in your local area. Anyone any idea what that means? We collect our Grandson from school for our daughter and she lives 16 miles away.
I think that means you’ll be getting a £50k fine, doing national service and going to prison.
Mind you, some on here would have you shot, so think yourself lucky....

We can criticise him (or his cabinet) for some things he definitely got wrong, like hospital PPE back at the start, or not closing our borders in March and September.

But even places we think of as well run with a good PM and who we think have done the right things at the right times (who have similar population densities or culture of population) are seeing the same rises in cases and deaths as us.

This is a virus, it’s not as straightforward as people think it is.

So we are comparing an over populated island like the UK with a population of 66m with one in the middle of nowhere with just under 5m population. That seems a sensible thing to do. My point was countries similar in size in Europe in terms of population or substantially smaller are all going through lockdowns. Comparing us the NZ was pointless
