Good news - 18, 950 cases. Surprisingly low.
I thought that as I posted lolIf that's the case I think the gym work was doing something wrong ;-)
Joke!
Yes I agree but some people need the correct environment, they need space etcwhilst I agree with the weights, just you tube the yoga etc, loads of stuff on there.
He is. Rediculous reallyI maybe grasping the wrong end of the stick here but are you trying to suggest you cant keep fit without going to a Gym?
I call you, I’ve run schools since 1999 and been responsible for supporting headteachers since 2014.My brother was a teacher for 40 years , he teaches parents how to home school now , parents are scared they cant do it but for a limited time, along with home tution from schools online, they are perfectly capable
I agree with schools , and uni's , mad to leave those petri dishes openSix days a week I go to the gym. Everyone wipes down their equipment, distances themselves from each other, wears a mask when entering and in the changing room, etc. To close them with the data around them is ridiculous.
The real issue is the schools. I occasionally see the school bus when walking back from the gym - the fucker’s full to the brim with school kids who definitely aren’t distancing, and most not wearing masks.
Interestingly, now we are going into lockdown based on cases, at the start of this it was the death figures we were looking at, why the change? Every single news channel was broadcasting hourly updates on deaths now it is cases, more people are being tested so of course that will be on the up, but it is showing that it is not as contagious to the vast majority of the public as we first thought. So.... do we do this continually until there is a vaccine? Will there be a mass roll out of vaccination for a virus that will affect 1% of people, most of whom are elderly and have existing issues?I'm coming round to thinking that we won't have any other option than to extend this lockdown. If the lockdown works then Christmas will pump the numbers up anyway and if it doesn't work, is that showing that lockdowns won't work again?
When you look at the daily figures now, it's going to take a Herculean effort to get the case numbers down.
We're averaging 22,000 or so cases every day and it will probably take a couple of weeks for that number to start to drop substantially. It would feel like a waste of time if we lockdown for a month (especially just before Christmas) and end up with "only" 8,000 cases a day as we know they'll be up to 16,000 within a few weeks. Christmas is going to see students going home, everyone mixing and travelling and is likely to give the numbers a real boost.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm not sure this is going to work. In truth, other than the local closed, working at home and wearing a mask in the shops it just doesn't feel too difficult. The first lockdown felt much harder, unless I'm just used to it all now.
It feels like it's too little too late.
I go running and cycling, can’t swim now though so that’s part of my training out of the window. Plus I’ve got weights at home, this doesn’t massively affect me, As for push ups and sit ups.... that’s not enough for everyone, how about the yoga or Pilates classes? How about heavy weights?Go running, do push/ sit ups in your home. But it doesn't matter what I say, you will find some way of not liking it. How do you think sailors keep fit whilst at sea?
I
You’ve bookmarked it for future discussion? That is implying I’m posting in bad faith and I resent that implication. Not heard that from any source anywhere but hope it's true.
So far most experts have forecast December as the earliest date for a very limited roll out to the most vulnerable.
Be a hard bastard and go up to Windermere and Coniston. ;)No, what I’m saying is the gym is a safe environment for many people who won’t want to exercise outdoors. Yoga, Pilates other classes have been done in safe clean environments, these can’t be done outside. Plus if you’re used to lifting heavy weights for example how can you do that outside? How do you swim outside at this time of year?
No I didn’t do stop talking bollocks, I’m highlighting how it’ll affect SOME people, not necessarily me, and all because they’ve ignored the data from gyms.He is. Rediculous really
why dont you do one rather than pick or maybe even give the thread some useful information , most people at least attempt to do thatEmpathetic advice from our specialist
10% less tests but 20% fewer positive tests. That is the lowest cases number in 2 weeks btw.
Possible reason looks like rather low test numbers.
Just 243,022 versus 276, 154 day before.
I think the schools should be closingPathetic response as usual but expected. Ok here’s another one for you to ponder on them.... kids ok in schools, yet grassroots football stopped, same kids yet no outdoors, explain the decision the ‘experts’ have come up with there.
Everyone on here mentioned how out of date that data was. How has someone like Whitty not got a rolling 24hr updated set of data? I’d forgive him if he had Thursday’s data on Saturday with the announcement happening so quickly, but a week out of date? How has he got 7 days out of date data when briefing the entire country?Conservative MP Peter Bone has spoken out about the graphs 'flashed up' and 'unreadable' in the presentation by Boris and co on Saturday and seems to think this was old data being used. It was, as noted in here at the time the numbers arguing about NW hospitals were at their worst point a week ago if you looked VERY closely at the date by freezing the picture. As I did but most would not and were not told in the briefing, of course.
Things had improved over the next few days and that data was available (I had posted it in here every night) but was not mentioned.
Peter Bone says he just wants clearer use of data so MPs can make properly informed decisions.
I agree. It is why I started doing these things myself as I saw this problem months ago and decided the best thing was to collate all the data myself from source so any spin was missing. Other than any I accidentally introduced myself.
Did that the other week!! Just reminded me that I need a new winter swimming cap!!Be a hard bastard and go up to Windermere and Coniston. ;)
Walk, did more for me walking since lockdown, than the year before going to the gym. Doubt I’ll go back to the gym.Go on then, explain how to us... I’m all ears.
Especially since chlorine kills this virus! And swimming baths... this can easily be the most depressing time of year for so many people, they need to be able to keep sane throughout this.
