Bottom of the league

You know, I've never really worked out how this sports washing thing is supposed to work.

The claim is that City were bought in order to give a positive reputation to Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Yet we have 15,000 stories per day written on how corrupt and evil the UAE is, directly because of their ownership with City.

That's some fucked up logic there.

City have been named the Premier League's least ethical club in an analysis of club ownerships.

20 clubs got points based on 12 criteria - sponsorship, employment practices, free speech, human rights and fan involvement.

Fulham came top in the table drawn up by FIFA Ethics and Regulation Watch with 115 points.

City are at the bottom with 20.

Unsurprisingly, some media outlets have felt this needed publishing today.

Amazing what people will do to tar our club.

Sports washing, eh?
FICKFUFA know less about 'ethics' than I know about the mating habits of wayward wombats and gender-fluid duck-billed platypuses. And of the latter I know the cube of fuck all!

what on earth has somebody found time to do now, what a crock of sh*te PL ethical.

stop wasting time and glorifying your own profile who ever came up with this idea.

not sure being top or bottom has any bearing.

I wonder whether the PL will take on board the idea that gratuitous points can be added or deducted at the end of the season on the basis of position in the Ethics Table - you can put yer shirt on the new FIFA slogan - The Only Way is Ethics.

It's always worth remembering that the term sports-washing is entirely made up by people who are ethically opposed to Abu Dhabi and trying to explain away their actions through that lens. There's never been any evidence that it's a real government policy or idea in any Middle Eastern state.

If there is a real aim of sportswashing, it is increasing Abu Dhabi's national security through making them a worldwide household name, associated with big Western institutions, like Barclays bank, Citi group, The Premier League, 4 seasons, The Sorbonne etc. to make up for their tiny size and protect themselves the next time a Dick Cheney type starts looking at maps of oil reserves.

But that's not really very scary, is it?

This is just a meaningless survey and will be taken onboard by nobody. Firstly if you ask anyone about ethics then City will be the only club most people will know associated with negatives on honesty with finance and ethics. That's because we were tried and convicted for breaching FFP by all the press in Europe and Britain before the CAS case even started. We didn't fair much better in the media after we were found not guilty of FFP, it was spun as if we had lost and been given a whopping fine. I'm surprise we got 20 points. These are the sort of surveys that students dream up as part of their course requirements. In other words a load of bollocks. The person doing this survey could of told you who would finish bottom before they even started.

We would be higher up in the league if we weren't in Europe.
The air miles we are accumulating are letting us down

They’re a bunch of absolute nobodies trying to make themselves relevant in a crowded field. The sort of people who love being on meaningless committees to boost their CVs and their egos

Those that sorted this table out were IMHO paid by the like of Livarpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and last but not least the rags.

The entire concept has never made any sense. Beyond it's very questionable effectiveness we're really supposed to believe that the Emirati government sat down one day and said, "You know what we're going to do to win over hearts and minds? We're going to buy a mid table Premier League club in the Northwest of England!" It's implausible nonsense peddled mostly by sportswriters with extremely limited views of the world.

Ha ha, the most transparent example of someone having a pre-prepared ‘faux outraged’ answer and then just needing to dream up a question (or in this case, ‘ethical analysis assessment’) to go with it, I’ve ever seen. What a bunch of complete cnuts
