I am last person you should say that to , if people dont want my concern then that is up to them, the lady is legally tied to the care home, the daughter risked everybody on a mission she knew wouldnt work, iget why she tried but it was still not the right way to do it, now the lady is isolated in her room and probably really upset and confused as she has dementia
 
Gov UK says it may be 9 pm before they can access the data. Good job that data on a pandemic is not a matter of life and death.

Of course, I know a delay is not vital on here or even for a government web site. But you do worry given how often this happens and if it has any relevance to the number of problems they seem to have with track and trace and mislaid or wrongly directed test data that has led to some issues around the UK in recent weeks.

We ARE taking life and death decisions off the back of 5 day old data largely because of issues like this that mean it can take days to get the live information set and checked

In today's fast paced world amidst a health crisis that just looks a bit Adam Adamant.

Today's when we should get an idea of whether this week is going to get another step change in positives. Devolved nations were down 9% between them today though so that’s good news. I’m going to go for England under 21000....
 
The poor software guy who is attempting to fix it and download the data whilst it keeps breaking down has been bravely posting on Twitter progress reports amidst lots of them on there saying they are just making up the numbers.

He has been incredibly patient with some of the replies. Mostly joshing like we do in here but some directly accusing it of being a fix.

His latest response says to the Twitterati:


"I'm sorry. You're welcome to apply for one of our open positions & give it a go. We collect 400+ million records from 20+ sources, then process, QA & publish them everyday under unparalleled scrutiny. Things break. Services fail. We do our best, I'm sorry if it isn't enough.^



Do feel rather guilty for joking about it in here. Though it sure does fail a lot. But I guess it has a lot to handle day to day.

I only post a tiny fraction of this on here and it takes hours every day. And know nothing about computers except (sometimes) which keys to press. Handling all that data seven days a week must be stressful.

I follow hospital admissions as number of tests/infections recorded is far more difficult to relate to first wave, when number of tests is not comparable to now. In addition, hospital admissions relates directly to those likely
to overwhelm NHS or die which is main position of government, eg protect NHS and save lives.

The simple graph NHS chap put up, showed admissions falling thru August, plateauing Early Sept then starting
to raise significantly thru 2nd/& 3rd week. It was reported, Sage on 26th Sept meeting, wanted more significant
to Tier 3. Obviously I have no idea what they may have been & what impact they would have had.Obviously, with any restrictions, there would have been a timelag. However, we are still facing a lockdown, the difference being we are now starting it with 11,000/12,000 Covid patients with the graph topline out of control with a x2 week lag
on the numbers too!

At the start of the 1st wave I posted an article from an experienced pandemic director. When you face pandemic, you need to act as you wouldnt normally, otherwise it simply overtakes you.You have to place measures that are stronger than you feel are necessary. You have to be bolder. Acting bolder on 26th for example, once restrictions end, you could see, maybe that it would have gone down or plateaued, without all new bold interventions. These interventions may have cost money & had some minor to moderate negative impacts too. However, if you find, without the interventions, the virus would have rocketed then you give yourself greater time to withstand that major impact.

We were too slow into the first lockdown and we have been too slow into second lockdown. We have still had to have them. If we had them earlier, prorata we would have less NHS out of work self isolating or with Covid 19. Better in hospital covid patient management means less deaths in some categories but can also mean longer in hospital stays. This can have adverse impact in overwhelming the NHS. Sadly more quick deaths, frees up beds. Not dying but having interventions for longer time periods doesnt.

Regional Lockdown management hasnt stopped the virus getting to where it is now, neither did the tier 1-3. This National Lite Lockdown may not either. We have 500k daily tests, complete with track and trace and yet some
areas are at peak first wave hospital admissions now.

Its going to be bleak for NHS staff, Care staff, Covid Patients and those on waiting lists. We all need to be more proactive in reducing contacts to an absolute minimum and please observe that now largely forgotten 2m rule..

However, by far the worst is Belgium again - 205 deaths despite have less than a fifth of our population. Was speaking to a mate about Belgium the other day - he knows someone who lives in Holland but works over the border in Liege. Apparently they’ve drafted the military in to help and oversee things at hospitals, and any health workers testing positive but showing no symptoms are being asked to still turn up for work as they’re so short staffed. Now as bad as things are over here, it’s clear that it’s a damn sight worse over in Belgium.

Im in PL at the moment. A similar lockdown to the UK is starting on Saturday, but crucially schools and unis are closing. I wonder if that will show the folly of leaving them open.
 
The poor guy just admitted on Twitter that with these failures (this is at least the fourth since the Summer) they once had to resort to someone e mailing case data from every place one by one and input them manually.

Nothing like high technology in 2020 is there.
 
Interestingly the interactive map was updated a minute ago before the daily case data. Its normally updated 10 mins after case data.
You can see all the missing data that has still to be added in - lots from formally tier 1 areas in the Midlands.

Good news.

England up yesterday 10,377 to 10419. but down today to 10, 344 - 33 less than two days ago.

Still some way off the April wave 1 peak at 17, 172.
 
England ventilators up yesterday 952 to 995, down today 995 to 984 but up 32 over the 2 days.

But a long way off the first wave peak in April at 2881.
