COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Who are the idiots here sorry Karen? Surely you don't mean the 70 year old nurse who went to get her 94 year old mum to care for her at home for her final months/years or whatever she may have left?
The home are her legal guardians , the daughter has had nine months to get her back, you cannot just storm the place and maybe take covid in , she needs to go about it the right way

It's not really a lockdown though mate more of a look stop doing things you like kind of thing.

Its a cross between a Corporal Jones reaction - Don't Panic! Don't Panic! And a Sargent Wilson instruction - Would You mind awfully not doing anything naughty for the next 4 weeks. I will be terribly grateful and at the end I will get Mrs Wilson to bake you all a pie.

So no surprises that there will be a great many Private Walker's who will react in the same way he usually did.

Perfect post that’s how everyone feels I know

lockdown should have all been closed if it’s as bad as said

This extension to furlough has really pissed me off. If they’d announced it in September that they’d carry it on instead of saying it’s got to end in October and now saying it’s going on again I’d still be in a fucking job!! As usual their shit presentation and not putting correct messages out has cost me big time.
I know I can technically now be taken back on put think that’ll be highly unlikely though I have asked the director and pray he’ll say ok, keeps me going over Xmas. Not expecting them to say yes though.

In what way would they be more sensible in public?
They may or may not be more sensible but it's probably true of human nature that they would be more likely to do things that transmit covid such as:
Go inside together if it pisses with rain
Go inside to use the toilet
Share food
Have a drink that lowers social distancing.

CONFIRMED: If you've been made redundant, you can be rehired and furloughed by your employer if you were employed as of 23 Sept, and on the payroll on or before 30 Oct. It won't work for many, but many be worth asking for some.

Yeah, like work. I'm so pissed off I have to be off work for a month. I really do enjoy work, and it's probably one of the safest places to be, yet people can still go to school/college/uni where it's going to spread like wildfire.

We don’t call them schools round here anymore they are fondly referred to as the Ebola child minding service.

Yep totally agree. I’m a teacher and there’s fuck all social distancing going on. And it’s all “you should wear a mask but we can’t force you” so obviously none of the kids are doing whilst shouting, coughing, spitting etc etc. It’s utter madness. And there’s nothing we can do about it. Some teachers have started saying they’ve got symptoms so that they can start away and be safe. I wouldn’t do that atm but I certainly don’t blame them. Driving into work was also busier today than it was yesterday. Farce

So sorry to hear that , I was close to being redundant as well not sure how I escaped it to be honest. The company I work for technically should shut completely til Dec 2nd, but the section i work for is staying open. The majority of us don't wish to go in but what with just escaping redundancy a month ago I am not going to have a choice, I will have to go in.

Yes I’ve just emailed one of the directors and asked... I’d still be there if the furlough scheme hadn’t been paused.

something I don’t understand.

I can meet my daughter in the local park, but I can’t meet her in my garden.

Any lockdown genius explain the rationale behind this?
Because if you are in the garden there’s a temptation she’ll nip in to use the loo/have a brew/get warm. And they don’t want people inside together.
