Premier League games 6/7/8/ November

As well as increasingly detesting the players that play the sport, I’m detesting the laws of the game more every year.
If I am truly honest with myself — and I said this at the beginning of the season but hoped it would change — I am much less interested in football generally this season. I am trying to care, as I could use a distraction, like so many of us could, but I am struggling to muster it.

That may sound minor, but football (as it has been for most of us) has been an integral part of my life since I learned to kick a ball. It’s been fundamental to my daily experience for three decades. And I know it’s been the same for others for many more years than that. Any loss in appetite is quite a shift. And the loss is rather substantial.

Now, there are obviously many other things contributing to that relative disinterest, many rather serious and deserving of attention and focus over a game I am not even playing myself.

But I do think it is also partly down to how the game is changing, how the manipulation is becoming so obvious, how the fans are being marginalised in favour of a fully commercialised ‘product’, the absurd economics of the football market in a time of immense strife for so many, and the general corruption pervasive in the sport that just becomes more difficult to ignore the longer you are exposed to it, especially when certain entities have begun to effectively lord it over others.

I still love City, that will not change, barring something truly abhorrent happening. But I just am not remotely as excited about watching us or other games (which I used to do quite a lot, as I generally just loved football).

I suppose it’s just the natural progression of things. You move on.

Still, for me at least, it’s a big change and somewhat sad to feel it happening.

All things considered il take that result if it means it will keep ole in the job.

Everyone, bar the odd person I know, feels exactly he same!

It's got the feel of one of those depressing football weekends, where United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs & Liverpool all win.
Hope I'm wrong for most of it.

It makes you sad though doesn’t it? I know it does me.

I used to LOVE football. It used to be great, used to be special. Now it’s detestable!
Absolutely it does. Probably more so given everything else that is going on, as it is exactly the time so many need a positive distraction from it all.

But I suppose that is the irony of it: these challenging times bring the absurdities and corruption of football, much of it existing well before the current tribulations arose, in to specific focus.

A poor game with little quality, City have nothing to worry about from either of them. If results like that keep the wheel in his job I'm pleased.

You are not alone. I am actually glad we can’t go to watch live games as it saves me from having to deal with the dilemma of whether to renew my season card or not. I have loved City my whole life but I have fallen out of love with football. If I was forced to make a decision to renew right now I honestly don’t know what I would do. It’s hard to walk away but at the moment I have zero inclination to go.

Many years ago, the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team was playing to packed houses every game when there was a prolonged player’s strike. The fans never returned and the last time I went to a game the stadium was less than half full. I have a feeling that Covid and VAR might do the same to football.

His entire torso, legs and head were WELL onside then. I reckon the width of his shirt at his shoulder may have been negligibly level with the defender.

Everything he touched the ball with in that goal was onside!

I HATE FOOTBALL!

Bamford goal disallowed for offside. Another one that doesn’t look offside but here we are
Bloody ridiculous decision, the powers that be do not seem to care that VAR as being used at present is leading to fans becoming dissolutioned with the game in vast numbers.
