Trump has gone months and months without holding a Q+A press conference at the White House.

The press Secretary has gone months on end without facing the press at times during the last 4 years.

If they don't want to face questions they don't have to.
Trump makes the majority of his press statements with the helicopter in the background. The reason being is that 1, the audio is terrible so he can later deny things if that suits him and 2, he can walk of whenever he wants and it looks planned and credible that he doesn't hear the follow up questions that are shouted at him.

No mate, I think a large majority of them are now Trump devotees. Trump is now bigger than the party.
I don't agree with that. There is no doubt that there is a large and very visible and vocal pro-Trump camp, but what proportion of the 71m republican votes that represents, who knows. IMO a minority.

You’re welcome to your own opinion but I stand by my previous post. It’s a cult.

I guess that if the helicopter exchanges are the only opportunity the press pool at the WH get to speak to him then they will take that, but really they should have got together and not engaged with it. Just say, 'sorry there is a fucking helicopter behind you and we cant hear you' and not get involved with it as a pointless exercise. I hope they start doing that now. There seems to have been a sea change in how reporters deal with Trump and his cult now

Oh, I agree it's a cult alright. I just don't think it's a cult which extends to having 71m members. Trump is the guy who lost the Republican's the election when a less divisive, dishonest and let's face it, downright shite of a leader, may well have won.

per CNN:

The Justice Department's top election crimes prosecutor resigned Monday in protest after Attorney General William Barr told federal prosecutors that they should examine allegations of voting irregularities before states move to certify results in the coming weeks.
Richard Pilger, director of the elections crimes branch in the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section, told colleagues in an email that the attorney general was issuing "an important new policy abrogating the forty-year-old Non-Interference Policy for ballot fraud investigations in the period prior to elections becoming certified and uncontested." Pilger also forwarded the memo to colleagues in his resignation letter
This is pretty significant as it signals that career officials disagree with the AG, and want no part of this attempted to subvert a legitimate election result, which lets face it that's exactly what this appears to be.

House/Senate Dem's need to get their sh*t together, because this could get very messy, very quickly.

I said to the Mrs only the other day, this is more like the behaviour of Mugabe or Idi Amin or similar, than the leader of a major, civilised western country. Truly appalling.

We shouldn't feel smug. Our own Government have shown little regard for the rule of law or convention.

They are quite capable of this type of chicanery.

Well they tried it with McCain who was a thoroughly decent guy paired with Palin who was a Christian Gun nutter. That didnt work so they went for a 1st rate arsehole paired with a Christian nutter and it worked. Dont expect them to go back to decency. I suspect the next Rep candidate will be either Trump or someone who supports and plays it like Trump and the Christian Gun nutters will have some stake in the race.

Oh, I agree with that. Just someone who doesn't suggest drinking disinfectant as a COVID cure. i.e. minimum IQ of 80 next time around.

The second amendment to the United States Constitution ratified on the 15th December 1791 states = "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

So all those idiots walking round armed to the teeth are just a militia protecting the security of the USA?

Tbf, beating Hillary Clinton and beating Barrack Obama after 8 years of Bush aren't very similar propositions. McCain never stood a chance (although pairing him with the Alaskan nutter certainly didn't help)

Context is important when looking at the 2nd amendment. The US army was not what it is today, bands of militias is really what was providing security and independence from the UK was a recent event fought by these armed groups. The idea at the time was that indvidual states via their militias would fight of invasion most likely from us or other Europeans. Or some states might go rogue and abandon the constitution and other states would gang up on them and fight them as per the civil war.

If ever a legal provision encapsulated the ridiculousness of human beings, this was it.

I'd take issue that the Guntoting Nutters are "well-regulated".
