Messi only joins if Pep is committed, so that isn't even a consideration.

That may be the case but Khaldoon, Ferran, Pep, Messi and Sheikh Mansour himself certainly won't be saying no to Messi if he picks up the phone Jan 1st.

Got to hand it to Bartomeu, rather than cut Messi in the summer and probably save himself and also the Club he kept him and there is a good chance Barca could be forced into bankruptcy today if players dont accept new deals.

Surely it'd be a stick to beat them with.
Merit is all well and good of you're spending big, but you want 3 or 4 years from that outlay, if not longer.
I didn't think we'd make PR signings this far into our transformation as a club. I can't see it as anything other than that unfortunately, purely just because of his age.
