Another new Brexit thread

Gives new meaning to "sovereign debt" - frankly the demand to be "independent" and "sovereign" looks as shit as the rest of Brexit.

And some are still claiming people knew they were voting for this.

And "we won".

That seems incredible if true but I guess it doesn’t tell us what the potential returns are. I wonder if there is a breakdown of the Brexit expenditure?

Hopefully a brexiteer will be along to give us some context on those figures, or if not post a gif or make a throwaway comment or someone could provide a poorly constructed tortuous devil’s advocate type thing

Incredible if true - probably the sort of thing that would have been worth emphasising four years ago rather than the general calling people idiots/racists thing.

Why, had 200 billion been spent on Brexit four years ago? I took it that amount accounted for the preparations for Brexit

If your interpretation is correct it’s worse than we thought

I think rabid remainer A C Grayling makes some interesting and unbiased comments backed up with facts and proof, he doesn’t need to predict a calamitous future as he is in the fortunate position of owning a time machine.

Smart honest DR Who like chap is a national treasure tbh.

Yep, without wishing to get into the whole 'blaming remainers for brexit' thing, these figures if true are hardly a secret. Assuming they are true then in 2016 there should have been another bus parked next to the one the leavers had their £359bn or whatever painted on with the 1970's-2016 overall net benefit figure on. Instead they decided to print some cartoons about Farage being a loon and endlessly post that pic of Boris stuck on a crane.
I suspect the figure has been arrived at in a way that suits the argument tbh, as it is coming from a remainer and is handily based upon the period of time they are bitter about; but as I'm not bright or time-rich enough to sensibly dispute it I must accept it at face value.

It is a surprise that these figures have only just come to light, yet the impending disasters are all discernible so far in advance :-)

Yes you’re right on reflection the whole remain campaign was based on caricaturing Farage and Johnson and absolutely no-one predicted anything about the potential downsides.

That's not true, but the actual downsides were buried among made-up ones which appears in the minds of the majority of the electorate to have detracted from the credibility of the remain argument. I don't know this to be a fact of course - just an opinion based upon the result of the referendum.

Which downsides have been proven to be made up? Actually, don’t bother answering. It will all become clear in the next 6 months. I suspect none of them.
