Lol, not a massively representative sample. I’m a nurse but of the mental health variety. Fair to say many of my colleagues over the years have had, erm “issues” but not usually anger. General nurses could be a different kettle of fish. They often don’t do mental health very well

There's extensive research in this area, sample size for serial killers among nurses may indeed be small but not the profiling of nursing personalities. The underlying anger has been cited in many angels of mercy across the globe

Anecdotally, I've been around the profession most of my life & have had members of my family as nurses - underlying anger/hostility and neuroticism are common

My next door neighbour serves her food daily. When it comes to the mental evaluation she claims she still ill so she can stay in hospital and. It go to jail. Best bit is she can claim benefit as being sick

Strangely more common than gets reported much less caught. A lot of research has been done on this in terms of profiling healthcare serial killers - they are predominantly nurses and female. Why? It's the burning question

My take, it's the most overworked, stressed out and underappreciated worker in the hospital setting. Nursing profession also attracts particular personality profiles that have been researched extensively - obviously patient advocacy & empathy are strong traits but so are other underlying ones that can manifest themselves in unimaginable ways

It's a tough job, tougher than just about any I have come across and you have to be tough to thrive in it but it also attracts a lot people with underlying anger that is often well hidden

He is, but unfortunately he’s right in that many people with undiagnosed personality disorders enter into nursing (and those considered caring professions in general), some with ulterior motives , seems like this girl may be one of them.

I've known a CBT therapist,(not cock and ball torture) and can confirm mental health workers are not without their own problems

I am more worried that I knew CBT stood for Cock and Ball Torture but I dont know what a CBT therapist is, unless she is the one that tells you it is ok to want your cock and balls beaten with a wooden spatula until they turn blue.

There are people with ulterior motives in all sorts of professions that allow them access to vulnerable people.I’m not sure that nursing is rife with undiagnosed personality disorders, that seems a bit strong. Maybe a fair few flawed individuals as a cross section like most other professions

Spent most of last year on various wards in RMCH and Stepping Hill and experienced care ranging from the superb to the ridiculous. From catching a nurse giving my sleeping son a quick press of his PCA (patient controlled analgesia) as she walked passed to A and E staff phoning the ward from home 2 days after my lad was admitted to ask how my son was.

Given Stepping Hill's recent infamy you would think opiate monitoring would be on point.

Changing from PCA to continuous infusion one day one nurse took an almost full large barrel syringe of morphine out of the pump and dump it in a sharps bin. Now if i didn't have a lot on my mind at the time and if I had a want to kill people in hospital a good 200 ml of medical grade morphine would come in handy.

I wouldn't go in Stepping Hill if I had any ambition to come out alive.

The morphine amount in the syringe is very small for a child.
If for whatever odd reason you wanted kill people in a hospital you could pick up a knife and use that. Not really sure how you would kill people with a saline/morphine mixture in a syringe.
Good luck putting your hand in a sharps bin to remove anything.

Is it that the profession has more mentally damaged people or is that the fact that they are medically trained and in a position to cause more damage? For instance if a librarian becomes mentally unwell or vindictive they are unlikely to have the same opportunity as a nurse or Dr to kill someone.

From my experience nurses are generally good, altruistic people, but there is a phenomenal amount of disillusionment with the career as they get older, moving from 20's into late 30's/40's. The amount who leave the profession is huge.
