Its a pretty good situation for the current interim board, they can cite selling Messi to save the club. Everyone is a winner.

However I think Messi would rather see out his season there, there is faint hope Barca will get some fans back in the stadium and he will want to say goodbye.

If he was supposedly prepared to leave in the summer transfer window just gone, he would have left withoutbsaying bye to the fans. So I wouldn't guess thatbis his priority

If City are willing to offer money for Messi in Jan, & Messi is willing to come, then Barca would be really fucking stupid not to do the deal.

It would be different if they were playing dream football & would be ruining something magical but they're not.
If our plan is to sign Messi then I could see us getting an agreement signed for him to join in the summer and then trying to negotiate for a January release.

For both parties a Danilo Cancelo arrangement would make sense where we maybe overpay slightly for Messi and they do the same for Garcia... in this case both players would be pure profit in the books, having no prior transfer fees to write off. This would help with FFP.

Messi isn't leaving Barca while he still has so much to offer and Pep according to his all his comments on the subject has always acknowledged this..

They may be forced to sell in January...

For Barça, it is a race against time. They need to reach an agreement with the players to cut wages by 30% by Thursday 5 November or run the risk of being declared bankrupt in January. One of the most worrying situations is that concerning Leo Messi because if he decides not to renew his contract, the club will also be obliged to pay him a bonus for reaching the end of his contract.

Hope they dont look at a calendar then. Already too late

Past tense. Messi having so much to offer has little to do with whether he remains at Barca, what also remains is the toxic atmosphere that very clearly is driving him out. Every major article about Pep's renewal links back to Messi's comments from last night - there are no coincidences like this in football

It's on - just a question of when, not if

Fucking horseshit.

How thick to suggest thatvsomething negotiated for months comes down to a terse momentary response by messi to a provocative question. That is bollocks to topple even Your best.

Pep has been saying for years he wants to stay here. the club have been saying they want him to stay.

Maybe messi comes, more likely he doesn't. Either way, his outburst has nothing to do with pep's extension. In reverse, maybe pep being here makes messi joining more likely, on one distant level. But fuck off with that pep signed because of a irrelevant messi comment crap, listen to 16 odd minutes of interview with the club, he'll tell you why he wants to be here.

I don’t really care that much about Messi. If he comes, great. If he doesn’t come, that’s fine. I do care about Pep staying for another couple of years. If you haven’t already, listen to his words on the club interview. Of course he likes working with his two chums and the chairman. But how much does he talk about the history of the club, of the cooks, medical staff, ground staff, players. We really do have probably the best run club in the world. We will win the Pl and the Cl in the next three seasons.

And what were the comments he made last night??

According to Spanish media, upon coming back to Barcelona:

"The truth is that I'm a little tired of always being the problem for everything at the club. On top of that, after a 15-hour flight, I had the tax authorities waiting for me. It's madness."

Too old, won't fit in the team and not worth it.

Why break a pay scale and transfer policy of early to mid 20's players, players that will improve with Pep's coaching, for someone the complete opposite?

Utter madness.
You still don't understand. Signing Messi will transform the club forever off the pitch. This alone makes him worth it.

I feel confident we'll get him now. I'm looking forward to a lot of people on here eating humble pie once he starts playing.

Rewind 5 years and he's in his prime, your post is correct. But in the present your post isn't correct.
Remember when we signed George Weah? Relatively speaking this is the same, apart from the money.

If any of our rivals were doing these figures for a near 34 year old, I don't think there would be any blue who would say that particular club is being transformed.
