That will end well, why don't we all do simple, helpful things like wear our fucking masks and get this pandemic done sooner with lower cases by doing a very simple thing that makes no difference to anyone.

Clearly not working is it. Doesnt everyone have to wear masks in supermarkets as it is? Starting too think the studies saying masks have little effect may be right.

Even if that's the case, unless you have breathing issues it's not going to cause you any harm (annoying with glasses steaming up) and will help keep you warm over winter.

I wear mine all the time when required. Only time it was a nightmare was at daughters swimming lessons when it was on. Don't particularly like them but not massively bothered by them.

Mrs Gaz has just been sent home from work to get a test because her brew didn't taste like a strong coffee, pray for us its negative, or if its positive pray for us even more being stuck in the house with a hyped up soon to be 3 year old for 14 days!!!

Scotland data up first as usual:

32 deaths tragically - but well down on last Friday is the good news.

1018 cases at 4.5% positive - like England % rates falling as test numbers increase.

391 Greater Glasgow 162 Lanarkshire 123 Lothian

1234 in hospital (up 22)

Ventilated 88 (up 3)

Scotland 3 wks ago v 2 wks v last wk v today

Deaths 28 v 31 v 56 v 32 today Let us hope this is showing a peak in deaths has passed.

Three of last four days have seen falls week to week in deaths.

Cases 1281 v 1072 v 1357 v 1018 today

Patients 1170 v 1237 v 1228 v 1234 today

Icu ventilator 83 v 98 v 96 v 88 today

Again these numbers show restrictions have flattened the peak as they used to say but keeping the data stable at a relatively high level is a problem if you then relax restrictions and it starts climbing from here. As it has less far to go to start looking like a real problem again.

The seasonal difference between when we did this in April coming into Summer and doing it in November coming into Winter has to be considered in every step we take.

I think the only sensible way to view it is "Are you happy putting your elderly relatives at risk of death". I wont be seeing my family this Christmas, My mum has bad COPD and my Dad has a history of heart and general health issues and they both in there 70's.

they are probably at a 1 in 10 to maybe 1 in 5 chance of dieing if they get it.

if you have no elderly relatives left then it eases that burden.
Fair play mate if your parents are at risk that is the right thing to do, we have a family member in a similar category and she wants to keep away, but she doesn't want us all to do the same thing she is doing bless her :) The rest of us will be celebrating as normal as millions will be across the land.

BINGO! This is all about cases now ( from a dodgy test ) and not deaths. March / April was a pandemic, we are now in a casedemic.

WTF?

500 people a day are dying!

How is that a casedemic?

[and the test isn't remotely dodgy, it's your understanding that's dodgy]

Surely you are not serious with that belief.

Well the first lock down I was happy when it was implemented, as I guess everyone was. The parameter was death and we knew nothing about the virus, now we do. Now the parameter has been moved to test cases, so if people weren't willingly getting tested what figures would they use to implement restrictions? I am not saying I don't think covid exists like some people, but I think this is being massively mismanaged, considering we know who is vulnerable to it.

Nicola sturgeon has announced today that 85% of Scottish hospital beds are full. Frontline staff at Hairmyres hospital in South Lanarkshire are particularly under severe strain.

Your view supports your narrative of convincing yourself your doing no wrong at Christmas if the rules meam we shouldn't mingle.

At the moment 500 deaths per day exist, that tells me we are still fighting a pandemic

Pfizer has applied for EUA from FDA and will apply 'immediately' to other regulatory agencies around the world.

Pfizer to apply for emergency use authorisation 'immediately'
Great news for people in the US. If you'd like to know more about the progress in the EU see here:

Scroll down to the 'Medicines undergoing evaluation>COVID-19 vaccines' section. The 3 primary candidates are all in rolling review and have been for a while (Moderna's not so much).
