Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

I think we could really do with someone like Delap right now. A natural goal scorer and something very different from what we usually have upfront

Really have a feeling Pep wont use him despite the matches coming every 3 days. He scored a couple in reserve team since his debut goal in Carabao.
Pep is waiting for Kun/Jesus to come back, until then its Torres, Sterling, Mahrez will play as striker.

If Delap wont even have a sub appearance all these weeks since both Kun/Jesus are out that will show what Pep think of Delap.

I am fed up seeing Mahrez inside the box (sterling does same often) and then he makes it so complicated that he walks the ball out or mumbles the chance away instead of making a good shot what a striker, even a youth striker would naturally do.

In fairness to Pep,he has looked a bit out of sorts in the last few games for the EDS,however he still gets on the scoresheet (one a peach) and that's never a bad trait in a striker.

watched him a few times now and whilst he has great potential he really is not ready for our first team yet. Harewood-Bellis looks more composed even though - as a defender - every mistake could be costly.

It's good to keep them hungry. It seemingly worked for Foden, who was used sparingly for 2 years and is now a main member.

Give them a game every once in a while, only 17 I believe. Lots of time to improve. He didnt even play for the EDS last season he was with the U18s, so this season is more about dominating EDS level while taking senior chances when they come.

Same for Palmer, and the others who had a senior chance.

Come on, I am talking about giving him 30 minutes from the bench in games like today. Instead of having 3 CB's on bench Garcia being one of them.

He certainly wont get a sniff to be in any match squad when Kun and Jesus are back.

I understand what your saying, even though he played the day before, I agree he should get odd minutes.

I think it's about being patient for now, he will get chances I imagine this season.

I'll moan about it though if he doesn't get a single minute from here on, but too early right now.

Yeah, decent goal, but his overall contribution is pitiful and has been in his last few games.
Pitiful is a very harsh.

His link play needs a fair bit of work as he gives it away too often. It’s not like he doesn’t have the ability because he does have a good touch, it’s just his consistency that’s lacking. I’d like to see him be told to really simplify things outside the box, rather than trying too much or trying to be too cute. These rough edges are only to be expected really given his age.

I’d have still liked to have seen him on the first team bench rather than a third centre back because he is strong, quick and can finish. The last bit is not something that’s easily learned.

He`s special. That combination of speed and pure strength, but also being pretty good with the ball is quite rare. Could be our own Haaland if Pep plays his cards right
