Regional scoreboard shows how the pandemic has shifted geographically

London has the most cases today at 2979 - up from 2547.

Midlands 2465 - down from 2738.

North East 837 - down from 1106 - first sub 1000 in several weeks,

Yorkshire 1748 - down from 2220. - first sub 2000 here in over a month.


North West is above Yorkshire but at 1994 is down from 2134. After being up as high as 6000 this is the first sub 2000 score by the NW in 56 days,
 
The UK has reported another 18,662 coronavirus cases and 398 deaths.

The daily total includes 141 deaths which were omitted from yesterday's government figures in error.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,512,045 and the total number of deaths to 55,024.

I had to have had words with the manageress of our local Asda.
Staff congregate in aisles with masks, blocking the paths and getting too close. One guy was doing the cleaning with the huge machine whilst on his fucking phone so not paying any attention to the customers who he ran into.
Plus their own staff completely ignore the one way system.

Routine and safety come from management, can’t blame the shop floor, they just follow what they are allowed to.

Things have improved considerably and she’s no longer hiding in her fucking office.

Maybe we should spend the money on an IT system rather than vaccines.

People criticised my opinion as cases were not being reported during Christmas week, so I looked at Flu and Pnumonia hospital admissions in the UK and US going back to when Adam was a lad and the same dip is there.
The reason is schools close and work attendance drops.
29% of Covid cases are from school, 15% are from work, the best part of 20% occur in the home from people who bring it home from school or work. Similar factors to what drives Flu.
Close schools for a week and a half before hand and we will be fine.
I'm all for restrictions but let's have them backed by scientific evidence.

You are comparing apples and pears , flu has an effective vaccine programme for the most vulnerable members of society , and most people who catch flu don't need hospital treatment or consult their GP . When you look at the data you will also notice December is the start of flu season and infections reach a peak towards the end of January ,start of February on rare occasions the chosen vaccine is less effective rates can be higher

seems to make sense if both illnesses are transmitted the same way. just covid is more contagious. But Kaz says your wrong so thats it then. lol
 
The antibody drug developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is administered in a single intravenous dose, and can be now used in coronavirus patients in the US even though studies examining how safe and effective it is are still ongoing.

Regeneron hopes the drug will be able to prevent COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms being hospitalised by boosting their immune system response.

Despite the good day in the NW today is not quite so good for GM. By no means a disaster and total for GM only up from 994 to 1039. But with the fall in the NW numbers that represents a rise up to 52% of the NW total The highest by GM in some days.

Many other places in the NW are doing really well now too. Liverpool is the headline - scoring its first sub 100 number - at 95 - since I have been tracking them. Just before they went into tier 3 and Manchester was still debating they were up around 500 + daily.

Knowsley which at that time was scoring 176 a day and became the first place in the UK into the 4000 club Pop score wise had another new low at 19 and its Pop Score instead of going up 150 a day went up 13 today!

GM though was far from bad. Whilst a few were up they were by small numbers and nobody was over 200 and for the first time in ages six of the ten boroughs had scores under 100.
 
This from one long covid patient ,he is a physio , this brain fog on top of my other brain issue really made things difficult with spellling in particular and understanding what i was reading , lots of skimming , thankfully it is better now

His concerned parents visited him and took him, by car, to a restaurant.I couldn't process how to read the menu, the words weren't making sense, I could see them but couldn't understand what was on the page."

I am getting sick to the back teeth with Covid now, It hasn't really impacted me much so far but the last few weeks have just been getting worse and worse. The thought of going through the entire winter under heavy restrictions is one I am not looking forward to. I think this second phase is going to be much harder for people in general than the first time around.

I take Mrs Moon out for 20 mile drives in the hills to get some fresh air & out of the house, she's in a vulnerable category. I'm sure someone will be around shortly to say it's irresponsible to potentially stress the emergency services should I crash/brake down.

The bigger question though is if you stay in the car & don't open any windows how can you give him a present? :)

The Covinazis will be along to tell you NO, you’re a disgrace to humanity and letting the community down. Not only that you should be reported and fined £1,000 and be given a criminal record.

Only you know how well you‘ve isolated in the past seven days and what contacts you have had. eg in the last seven days I’ve seen a delivery driver outside once and a chimney sweep inside but with distance and ventilation.
I’d happily go and see my grandson based on that.

So if you’ve been careful and kept yourself safe then make your own mind up as to the chances of giving him Covid.

What do his mum/dad think?

I wont even see him but will whatsiface him from inside the car and he is at the window. I haven't stepped foot outside the house for about 10 days now, when the wife goes shopping she douses herself with that much IPA she smells like she's been at the drinks cabinet.

Oh and Mum and Dad are all for it.
