@MCFC-Carl-88 You cherry picked Hagrid's thread on the meeting today to suit your narrative instead of actually reading it through, I simply provided the missing context that negated your theory

The Messi situation is no less clear unless elections are moved up to 3rd week of December else this will sit until summer

I did not quote, I summarized as it was not verbatim, you're free to prove me wrong - meanwhile you quoted, out of context

My knowledge on the subject, certainly compared to you, is indeed greater and not because I have ever claimed to have insider info but experience reading from reliable sources close to the club coupled with actually following the club for 20 years

Like I said i formed an opinion based on the information and stated it as an opinion.
The story said the winter window would be discussed so I still think it will be a subject broached. It certainly would be an elephant in the room.

Youv stated many times you’d have no problem with Messi joining city yet from the tone of many of you posts that’s not true. You constantly pick at peoples posts who show any shade of encouragement or optimism that it may happen.

Your condescending tone and “I know more” posts are getting boring.

Il leave it at that and just watch how it plays out.

Could be a big move to persuade Messi. Again, I know all these candidates leak/chat a lot of shite to get to the head of the pack but if Messi's main gripe is that the squad isn't that good, bringing back a player he had such a good relationship with is a good place to start.

Barcelona have just agreed wage deferment program for their current players totalling 160 million over 3 years.

The idea that they can buy Neymar and then pay him even what he gets at PSG is absolute fantasy.

They don't have any money.

Any chance Tolm he moves in January? Just reading what's coming out nightly in my case it seems it's headed that way, but that's me connecting dots and drawing my own conclusions.

I think the only way he moves in January is if he signs a pre-contract with us and it gets leaked.

Then the board might push him before he walks.

I still think he would want a farewell from the fans though, so staying until a covid vaccination is widespread in April/May and the camp nou is full makes more sense to me.

He'll never sign a pre-contract during the season, it would not show respect to Barca and I struggle to believe he would do this. An agreement by word between parties, sure but no signed agreement

But this was reported by Brunati

Messi has told Laporta he wanted to stay at the club, but things can change

Brunati followed up to give context

I think the phrase was taken out of context: As of today, Messi is not thinking of leaving Barça. Whomever the next president is (he has already spoken with Laporta and this he told him, they tell me) must seduce him with a sports project.

Well then he better stay at Barca. Good luck to him and your club.
We won't ruin another transfer window chasing messi. I don't think city will do that. I hope not.

You formed your opinion by deliberately ignoring the context you later accused me of taking credit for. You're imagining things

I have absolutely weighed in thrice now in this forum on Leo's links to City and stand by them. That's hardly synonymous with making illogical conclusions based on the current situation or what was reported today. The management council cannot close any major transfers much less that of Messi, especially if elections aren't move up from late January

I have only refuted flights of fantasy posts. I have not backed away from feeling he has already decided to leave, Brunati's recent comments make me less certain but only slightly. I think he will give Font & Laporta a chance to convince him of their project (I have also posted this before) & protecting the player(s)/club from the toxic media but I see that as a mission impossible since it's difficult to ensure + the financial state of things. That is an opinion based on understanding all the variables and player over last 15 years. I could be wrong but that's what my gut tells me

Your posts were condescending, clear why you would feign ignorance about it now

I think it’s virtually impossible for a deal to be done in January, but next summer is a distinct possibility.

Brunati is the journalist who said Messi’s father “is right now on a plane on his way to Spain” then had to delete the tweet because a journalist from Argentina said he would only leave in three days. Sorry but based on what I have observed from her, and given my gut as a journalist myself, I wouldn’t trust her much

To late then its now or never for me.
And peps said nothing happens in january so thats that.
If he says we’re doing business in January, prices go through the roof. Of course we could still not hire anyone (it’s probably the most likely scenario), but he’s just doing the smart thing. If this were Mourinho saying it everyone would know it’s bullshit

This saga must be taking it's toll on Messi emotionally. I do wonder what state of mind he would be in if he did eventually leave his Barca comfort zone

Except in this case the grown man caught his hot childhood sweetheart

IMHO, with one foot out the door having already decided once to leave back in August he will give the candidates a chance to seduce him with their project for the club. Of course, Bartomeu promised many things too that he never delivered on much less intended to

The x-factor in that regard is Laporta because at a minimum there is trust & experience with him and that he will deliver on. The problem remains the same as I see it, can Joan protect/insulate the players much Messi from the toxic Nunista media campaign that will continue to destabilize on top of having a coherent sporting plan? Or even pledge to do so adequately to placate Leo considering what he has endured for years now? Laporta has most of our affections, even among players and his enthusiasm is infectious - will it tip the scales for Messi though?

Font has a coherent sporting plan but is not a natural leader and not someone Messi likely has great faith/trust in, even if he indeed recruits Puyol, Xavi et al as part of platform (There are rumours that Xavi is having doubts)

I think it is clear January will not happen despite it making sense to do so for several reasons with the biggest hurdle being elections that should happen before end of December but currently planned for late January

From there, Laporta or Font will spend months trying to convince Messi until June and conceivably it will give the player an idea of what they can deliver on. Equally, I am convinced a verbal pact can already be in place with City should he exit in June so the point of a formal contract is irrelevant.

Nevertheless, I don't see how the question of Leo's future won't be the topic of every pressy until summer despite public denials etc. I do not expect Messi to speak out about this publicly

Obviously a chance mate, but all depends on whether both clubs continue to cut their nose to spite faces over Garcia valuation.

I think the January move might happen if we sign a precontract with him.

At that point the Barca execs can stop kidding themselves about him renewing and ask whether they want 5 months of Messi or <50m euros in wages and a transfer fee.

Don't know about a transfer fee but isn't he due some sort of pay out at the end of the present contract as well?

A straight swap for Garcia seems the best option all around.
