Press seem to be waking up to the residence and insurance requirements from 01 Jan

180 days in any twelve month period.

motor insurance green cards limited to 90 days. Requirements for international driving licences, and health insurance which covers pre existing medical conditions .... bit tough (and expensive) on those who live in the UK but with a property abroad.

Evidence required for purchase of electronics (laptops / mobiles etc) before entering the Eu

Outstay your visa time and have your passport stamped to stop re entry for 3 - 5 years
It isn’t even 180 days in a 12 month period.
It’s 90 days in 180 days.
The clock starts the day you arrive. 90 days later you have to leave and not return for a further 90 days.
So in any 6 month period you can only be there for 3 months.
You cannot go for 6 consecutive months in a year.

If you had even a basic grasp of the facts you would know we will not see any reduction in immigration due to brexit. That whole thing is a fantasy - we are an ageing population that is reliant on immigration for labour, and will be more so in years to come. Without immigration there is no way we can crew those trawlers, staff the NHS, or make sure Nigel Farage gets his arse wiped in a care home in the coming decades. That is the reality - unless we up the birth rate and cull our elderly immigration is vital to the UK.

I know that .... unfortunately 17.4 million dont. However the Tories seem to be doing their best with culling the elderly (as the Operation Cygnus report shows.... it was always their intention to move the infected into social care settings) So far they've saved £600,000,000 in pension payments.

Japan is doing OK and there adult nappies have been outselling the baby version for years. Robot arse wipers is the future.

The sales pitch was to control immigration, not end it.
Hello mate.
How you doing? The covid situation sounds grim there although not quite as bad as here ( deaths relative to population).
How's Bolso - believed he called you a load of sissies and won't take the vaccine himself!
PS and he blew the municipal elections

Then they should have done that and won the referendum.

Too late ..... the Conservatives outsourced 'Border Control' to G4s in 2012 (after the farce at the London Olympics where the army had to be called in to sort out security - but G4s still trousered all the money ) and were unable to change the contract or sort out the infrastructure.

It’s all fine here at the moment, however, it look like we are about to enter the second wave, and according to the wife she is seeing a lot more positive COVID patients and so they are talking about locking down on the 2nd (look at you knowing stuff the majority of Brazilians don’t lol)

That of course is all true. won’t stop the government pissing about trying to prove they are tough on immigration though.

if on;y somebody had warned them lol

It's a shame for those that voted Remain but as for any Brexiteer's negatively impacted by this - it's what you voted for you morons. Presumably it will also have a negative impact on property prices in some popular expat areas as well. I wonder if they thought of that when they voted. Thinking about it I might look into buying a place if they're going cheap and take advantage of their misfortune.

I guess there is time for this to change so that UK citizens with a second home in Europe get parity with EU citizens who have second homes here (I think I’ve understood correctly that is the position).

Would be interesting to hear from any bluemooners who find themselves potentially affected by this, especially advocates of Brexit to see if they are happy it’s a fair price for our relative new freedom and opportunities . Does anyone know of any?

You mean they want to treat us like just any old non-member of the EU? How can they persecute us all?

Years ago i used to watch a docu-series called 'trawlermen' (i think). Boats passed down through families and staffed by local lads and old sea dogs from Peterhead.
A few days ago i saw an updated version of the show and, apart from the captains nearly all the workers on the boats were foreign.

yeah but all the fish they caught were born and brought up in British waters - our fish have led the way by banning migratory species from entering UK waters.

I'd imagine the number of Spanish citizens who have bought a holiday home in sunny Grimsby whereas quite a few in Grimsby may well have one in the Mediterranean sunshine
