Eric Garcia to Barcelona

They had us over a barrel with García if he would not sign for anyone else. We either get scrap value in Jan or next to nothing in June when his contract ends.

I would have taken £10m and got shut before the transfer window than 360k euros in June/July.

Khaldoon said the day’s of clubs taking the piss out of City in the transfer market are over.

A fair offer from Barcelona would have got Garcia.

But they played poker and lost.

Look where Barcelona are now in La Liga.

Garcia may have made some or the difference in their defence.

Imagine Barcelona not making the top four and missing out on next seasons CL.

For years I thought Pierce Brosnan was Remington Steele only to find out years later that it was actually Stephanie Zimbalist.

I'm now thinking that this mysterious FCBarca is really a Madrid supporter.

Dare I say it, he could actually be Lionel Messi himself?

We played poker and both lost. Barca left 10m in chips on the table and we walked away and went back to playing the roulette machine.
We are now coming back round to the table at 3am, pissed and might make a couple hundred grand if we are lucky.

What a waste of a night.....

The club tried to call the bluff of Barca and Txiki no doubt wanted to get one over on his old employees, it didnt work. We are now stuck with him, paying his wages and hes taking up a space on the bench that should have gone to someone like Harwood-Bellis or Doyle.

We don't need 5 CBs + Fernandinho, its ridiculous.

We've played Garcia when we've needed to play him. He isn't languishing in the reserves or at home all the time.

We don't need £19mill. We need a squad that can compete for 4 trophies. If that means having 5 fit centre halfs, so be it.

Last season we were down to 1 proper and fit centre half at times. City weren't going to make the same mistake again this season, hence signing Ake and Dias, and keeping Garcia.

I know we have, I disagree with it completely.

The sums being talked about are not chump change, we really should have taken it. I can't wait to see this forum in meltdown if we lose out on Haaland over 19/20m Raiola fee for example.

Your right, we aren't going to make that mistake so we went and bought two experienced CBs, I am sorry but we don't need Garcia also. Fernandinho can play the role and id rather play Harwood-Bellis any day of the week.

Yep, we will have to make do with those dodgy bastards who have run the club into the ground.. Oh, wait..

They, the Barca fans, voted the last president in. Wait a minute! :-?

This is very important.

What FC Barca forgets is that City have Soriano. Our CEO.

He ran Barcelona. He along with Pep made Barcelona great again. He knows Barcelona inside out. He is our Barcelona inside man. ;-)

£19mill, plus, isn't going to get us Haaland. That aside, there will be a very limited queue of clubs in for him. COVID19 impact. Dortmund wanted £120mill for Sancho. United couldn't afford him. How much will Dortmund want for Haaland? The same? Forget City paying that. We have a player transfer structure that doesn't go up to £120mill.

Fern did his best at centre half last season. It didn't workout. He's not a centre half.

Yet, we'll still be able to vote - most clubs & their fans will never have that luxury
It reminds me of turkeys voting for Christmas. You got what you voted for in the end....greed & corruption.

The aura of Barcelona is over. No guarantees you will get back to the top. The landscape in football has changed and without messi you will be lucky to see another champions league.

There is nothing happening at all, zero movement from either Barcelona, Us, or Eric (que a joke on his pace). No mention of teansfer strategy, he hardly plays and when he does, two comments are probably enough to cover it on a matchday thread.

Yet this thread keeps going. Why?

All the reactions to FBarcas repeat wumming, or whatever the term is. All been said before, all been shown wrong. I see now we've added 'spite for not letting us have messi' to the mix of reasons city didn't sell last summer. Even though we were never formally in for messi, never made a single approach.

And some claim the guy is not a troll, this whole thread is taunt and respond, repeat.

edit. but hey at least it is broadly restricted to at least just the one thread, so can't be too bad i guess.

He has a release clause of around 70m, its well known that we baulk at paying big fees. I am just saying, Raiola is likely to want 20m+ for his services and that would normally see us back out. Had we got back 10m for Garcia it all helps, you can see what I am saying here....

We won't be signing Haaland anyway but my point still stands, we walked away from millions for stupid reasons imo.

Well apparently Garcia is a centre half, haven't seen anything better from him than I did Fernandinho. Oh, did I mention also, Garcia doesn't want to fucking be here. Why is the club acting like a daycare centre.

And the fault will lie with the candidates or the members who vote poorly (i.e. in the US with Trump). The difference is that with owners, you have no say. I'll always prefer democracy

And they are feeling the absence of Xavi and Iniesta most grievously.

The only reason I think Garcia is still getting games is that he's on display in our 'shop window', and we want an amount that the club feel he's worth. Come the January transfer(or summer) window he'll sign for Barca or anyone else IF and WHEN we are happy we aren't having the piss taken for a promising player who wants out.
