The way we played that game no player would have gotten past the block. Our best option would have been set piece or if they managed to come out and we countered. I doubt a single player would have changed anything that day.
But dont you think we need more energy in our team?
Fair enough. But then why not sign Messi based on that game then if there was no player who could bypass the block in your opinion? Couldn't I use your argument on any potential signing? Why sign anyone then?
I do, but I've posted several times elsewhere I believe our energy issues are more fitness related than personnel related. In the opening 3 games of the season we started imperiously, pressed magnificently, and looked dominant. Only to suffer from fatigue and drop off like flies after 30 minutes. Because of how last season ended, the very short post season, and the busy start to this season we've suffered fitness wise. We could have Kanté, but if he's fatigued we still have the same energy issues.
Now though with an almost fully fit squad and Pep's heavy rotation I'm hopeful that as the season progresses our fitness levels are going to improve and we'll benefit massively for it. I think we're slowly seeing the signs of progress already.
What does going for an out and out striker has anything to do with us getting Messi for free?
He scored 2 goals from open play this season. Maybe when you see barca playing you would understand why. They play with two defensive midfielders and 3 number 10s(Messi, Griezmann and Coutinho running into each other's spaces) , sometimes even no wingers! Since there is no creativity Messi drops deep, at times even picking up the ball from centre backs. Griezmann , coutinho and braithwaite (yes he is Barca's number 9 in 2020!!) miss a lot of chances too. Koeman , if due respect , doesn't seem have any tactics just vibes.

He is probably just tired of it all (carrying the team , being blamed of everything that goes wrong at Barcelona) and his heart doesn't seem to be in it anymore

1 poor season so far, under difficult and personal circumstances, doesn't make Messi a bad player.
Ask yourself this question. How many goals would Messi score and setup for City with Pep as manager, and playing alongside KDB, Sterling, Torres, Jesus, Sergio, even Mahrez. Just the thought of Messi and KDB in the same team is a wonderful thought.

I think any Barcelona fans that want to see messi stay beyond January need heads tested.

Give him a proper thank you, wish him all the best, undo the mistake bartomeu made and scrap his contract so he can go on a free, save yourself the wages bonus, scrutiny, media circus, pain of watching this decline in both player and club and move on.
