COVID-19 — Coronavirus

When the vaccine has been rolled out to all those who want it and can have it then there is little more to be done. Covid probably will never entirely go away so like the flu it will continue to claim lives but hopefully at a much lower level.

People die from the flu all year round, including some younger previously healthy victims. If you prefer to take your chances with Covid rather than have a vaccine then that is a personal choice based on your assessment of the risks. However, the vaccinated part of the population can’t be expected to mitigate the risk of catching Covid for the non vaccinated part. I will be having the vaccine as soon as I’m eligible to receive it.

There are several severe auto immune conditions which totally fuck with your bodies immunity
Do you know of anyone, let alone a family member die from a reaction to a vaccine which was deemed safe?

He specified flat earther anti vaxers though, if you believe that the earth is flat then you very well may be either a piss taker or an idiot.

Also people with severe egg allergies may not be able to receive certain vaccines, unless in a strictly supervised in-patient facility.

Scotland data first:

Deaths - 39 - sadly up one on last week. Though Nicola Sturgeon notes the non proven by a test but Covid suspected deaths fell in the last week in today's weekly data.

Cases = 897 at 4.6% positive

225 Greater Glasgow 150 Lothian 147 Lanarkshire

Patients 972 (- 11 on yesterday)

Ventilators 50 (-7 on yesterday and lowest in many weeks - under half what it was a month).

Scotland 3 wks ago v 2 wks v last wk v TODAY :- deaths, cases, patients, ventilated

54d - 1264c - 1235p - 98v

44d - 880c - 1161p - 84v

38d - 931c * - 991p - 68v * 4.5% positive

39d - 897c* - 972p - 50v * 4.6% positive TODAY

Just read your post again and there are two ways of reading it. I obviously read it the opposite to you. Apologies for any confusion

I hope they sort the vaccine out for those who have medical reasons not to have it, I can imagine that it must be a worry bud.

Scottish scientist explaining with Nicola Sturgeon that they almost eliminated the virus in Scotland with their strict measures but it came back because it spread from other infected areas once lockdown ended. Allowing travel reintroduces the virus. He urges people NOT to travel outside Scotland to higher infected areas as this is what reimports the vaccine after hard work locally eliminates it.

The only countries that have been really successful in that regard are places like New Zealand that in effect isolated themselves from the world via a travel ban he notes.

Wales - he says - with whom they consulted - think their problems have been reimported in the same way from cross border travel (I am assuming he means from North West England where cases were spiking).

They do not want to use the law to make it illegal to cross borders out of Scotland but they do want to - especially in urban areas where the virus spreads quickly - to ask Scottish citizens over coming weeks to think very hard about any journey outside where you are or especially outside of Scotland.

Otherwise a new spike in January is almost inevitable.

I'm not having a go at you at all - you are just the messenger - but if correctly attributed that statement is so blatantly incorrect it is laughable.

If it was remotely correct the rates would be highest in the border areas and North Wales coast and not deep in the Valleys where tourists and day visitors from England scarcely venture.

The Welsh Government should own up to their own mistakes and not seek to pass blame onto others.

I hate comments like that arbitrarily thrown out. Some, me included have real concerns about what the vaccine may do to me or my children - we are far from idiots!

Not everyone is safe from vaccines, please consider this demographic before trying to look big
Weren’t you slagging people off for driving two miles to go for a meal the other day?

What if everyone felt like you and didn’t get the vaccine?

How do you think we get back to normality and why are you against people acting normal, when you’re also against taking the vaccine?

We’ve seen it both from Scotland and Wales, blaming their own failings on the English.

All home nations have failed and none of them want to admit it’s their fault.

I was and still am critical of those deliberately breaking the rules, particularly when a vaccine is now avail.

Most will take the vaccine, so what is your issue with me saying not all can based on medical issues.

Edit. Please show me where I said I am against the vaccine

2 out of 5000

people are allergic to all sorts of things. It’s a new product so I would have thought they would accept some allergies and 2 out of 5000 doesn’t seem that bad news.

what’s the allergic reaction do you know , is it severe?
Irrespective,it will hardly inspire confidence in the procedure where those of an already anxious/skeptical mind are concerned.

I changed my post to “against taking the vaccine”.

You’ve just said you don’t know what it will do to you and your kids and you are reluctant to take it.

If everyone felt that way then we’re in the dire position we are in indefinitely, until the virus finally fizzles out, but that could be years.
