I was standing with my university mates behind the right hand post as Law scored.. by that time loads of Red Filth hooligans had got over the barrier between the Scoreboard End and the Main Stand Paddock, then came the wave of Stretford End intellectuals, doubtless crossing the pitch to discuss the finer tactical elements of the game with us Blues.. The police and stewards had scarpered, so no protection there.. a very lairy situation as young people say nowadays! And all the way out of The Swamp there were scraps and violence I’d not seen the like of since the advent of modern hooliganism in the mid-sixties. We couldn’t celebrate the goal until we got back into my pal’s van. So, yes, no love lost, as you say!
