Agreed, it's not something you can truly 'enjoy' as such, given the harrowing real-life event, but as a TV spectacle it is fantastic and compelling viewing.I am sure it will have been mentioned many times in the thread already, but just in case anyone missed it, it has to be said that Chernobyl is IMO perhaps the best TV mini-series' ever produced. It truly is a masterpiece. Not only the story, which is incredible, but the script, the acting, but above all the cinematography. It's the *feel* of the whole thing with the drab sepia colours, the sets, the clothes, the cars etc. It is mesmerising and is a work of cinematographic art, it really is. If it was a film, it would have swept up at the Oscars.
tried 2 episodes, just couldn't see anything in it at all. lots of people seem to rate it, it just didn't do it for meI can't believe it's taken me this long to discover Schitt's Creek.
It took 4, possibly, 5 episodes before we really got into it. Now we're in deep.tried 2 episodes, just couldn't see anything in it at all. lots of people seem to rate it, it just didn't do it for me
A good laugh once you get into the characters.I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover Schitt's Creek.

Spot on with all of that.I am sure it will have been mentioned many times in the thread already, but just in case anyone missed it, it has to be said that Chernobyl is IMO perhaps the best TV mini-series' ever produced. Thanks for this. I will buy this and have a read over the Christmas break.Spot on with all of that.
I can also recommend the book "Chernobyl: History of a Tragedy" by Serhii Plokhy, which I read earlier this year. Goes into great detail regarding the events that led up to the tragedy, what actually happened and the long-term effects. An engrossing read.

No worries, I'm sure you will enjoy it. The only disappointment was that something that happened in the series obviously didn't happen - this in no way detracts from the series as we have to accept that sometimes events have to be changed for narrative flow. I found the book really good in terms of filling in the background of some of the main characters - particularly Viktor Bryukhanov, the director of the plant, and the way the Soviet system contributed to the disaster. Thanks for this.
