COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Great news - the disgraceful media should be focussing on the great achievement of the vaccine. Loads are really starting to struggle mentally but we are weeks away from having this largely beaten.

that’s why they love

case numbers
deaths

fine, give it to us but at least also report

number of vaccines with running total
number of people discharged from hospital each day.

There needs to be a balance .

Not sure what your angst is with that headline as it is factually correct is it not?

viruses mutate Covid has already mutated a few times before this new one. That’s what they do. In fact it would be more unusual had this virus not mutated.

in fact often mutations in viruses mean the virus weakens With each mutation.

there are many articles on it , I have posted one, perhaps better reading than the daily mirror or what piers Morgan rants every morning.

Good - quite a slow process but every day more is given the closer this is to being over. The news should be concentrating on reporting this daily so we can see progress.
I thought it was pretty good going for week 1 (i.e. from a standing start), but the pace will presumably pick up from now on as the number of vaccination sites increases.

e.g. in Wales they are about to start vaccinating in care homes and presumably this will happen in the other nations also

The house has got a test at 10am this morning.

Wife is a teacher and she was burning up last night.

After everything this year, it would be fucking typical to get a positive test going into Xmas week.

Can't believe it. Sick of this shit. Had both my kids already isolated twice at different schools during last three months alone.
Hope everything turns out OK mate. It's been an awful year :(

The additional resources already stretched to ensure the vaccine is still adequate, or do you believe it should just be ignored and we simply collectively cross our fingers.

mate we have scientists all over the world on to that . That’s their job. Do you think they aren’t testing . Why don’t you let them do their job And you not worry about something you have zero control or influence over

I bet you are sit on planes worrying about the pilot upfront instead of relaxing and let that bloke or woman paid to fly the plane worry about flying the plane.
there is nothing you can do.

in any event I thought you weren’t into the vaccine anyway ?

At least try and understand what you are responding to before going off on a very strange tangent

Very little given over to good news as you can see
As I noted yesterday it was only an internet campaign that forced them to release this data as it did seem nobody in England knew the actual numbers. Their overly casual attitude to the importance of raw data has cost us before.

They misled the country with their hospital numbers in the last press conference. They used 4 day old data when their own website had very different numbers already. They showed London had more patients in with Covid than the North West when the press conference claimed the opposite.

Scotland had been reporting on the vaccination numbers since the start and Nicola Sturgeon promised a weekly update every Wednesday the day they started.

Nobody in England seemed to even know.

In a pandemic numbers are one of the most important things you need to know and share with your people. Happily this might now actually happen. But it should not take an internet campaign to have coerced this.

that’s based on last weeks hospital vaccines , from this week designated gp centres are now administering the vaccine so we hopefully should see a good uptick over the next few days and weeks

Let's just presume the 130k vaccinated number doubles this week given that ^

If so we're looking at roughly 250k maybe by the end of the week (more perhaps?) - that doesn't sound loads, but it's still 0.37% of our UK population. That's a lot already! Roughly 1 in 300 people in the UK have now been vaccinated. It's a fair presumption that most of these are some of the most vulnerable too. This is great news! Hopefully this momentum keeps up.
