There seems enough outrage over this relaxation period to be hopeful that the vast majority of people will be sensible and cautious. Surely 3/4 households won’t all have the mindset of let’s have a party.

For what it is worth (not a lot it seems)

Wales deaths 30 (down from 31)

Cases 530 (down from 2238 last week - but minus the 11, 000 + held over from past 6 days going on tomorrow in one go)

Fair enough, although I expect some being a little uncomfortable sharing a room with strangers
I may be completely wrong. They may not do it like that at all. I was amazed last week, when I had my first ever flu jab, that I waked in, was jabbed standing up, and sent straight out. Apart from giving my name and DOB I wasn’t asked or told a thing. The whole thing took about 30 seconds.

Numbers may be late today - partly due to the Wales delays over the missing 11K cases. But mostly as they are finally adding % positive to the published data and number of individuals tested (another thing other nations have long done as opposed to just tests which may involve more than one per person).

These things are long long overdue but will at least save me having to calculate the % rate every evening.

Can't help feeling that Boris has got.this wrong. I was expecting him to say you can still meet with family, but reduce the 5 days to maybe 2/3 days. I think there will.be a big.price to pay come January. It's all the frontline workers I feel sorry for

Would it really have made much difference though? It would still theoretically result in the same number of contacts if people were sticking to the rules. It would also have meant more people piling onto trains in a much shorter window.

The damage on this was done ages ago starting in July when he stupidly said we'd be back to "significant normality" by xmas and then played down the severity of how things would get in winter. It sounded stupid then and it still sounds stupid now. He passed up the opportunity to keep transmission rates low and give us a decent run at Xmas. He instead sent people back to the office and sent students into halls.

His lack of mettle when it comes to giving out bad news and hard truths has come back to bite us all on the arse now. He used Christmas as this far off target we could all get excited about and to deflect from the mess he has been making of this on an ongoing basis. He got it badly wrong and he knows it's too late to put the genie back in the bottle. So instead now he's taking the cowards route of saying he's leaving things as they are but now it's our fault instead of his when it goes terribly wrong. Pathetic.

Which tier do you think you’ll be in?
Company are thinking tier 2 for West Lancashire.

Did they not say discussed today, announced tomorrow, implemented on the 20th.? Although I doubt they’ve had time today.
Announced tomorrow, reopen. Saturday.

We have a 48 hour lead time for orders from our main supplier.
