He wouldn’t be out of place in a small Eastern European communist state falling, like during the 80’s, with their dictator making a last minute power grab before being ousted.

That’s exactly the scenario this shyster should be in, not the White House in 2020.

Yeah, trump is just the useful idiot, no way in hell would they actually trust him with the real information. As soon as he’s booted out of the WH, he’s got a date with novichok, or a high window.

Both trump and Brexit are direct results of Russian meddling. It will all come out one day.
It's a nice story (would make a good film) but I don't think that Russian interference had anywhere near the amount of influence some people in this thread believe. Obviously they would have favoured outcomes and I would agree that those are Brexit and Trump, but the the credit Russia are getting for those being successful is overblown.

There doesn't need to be a foreign bogeyman when there are right wing corporate big wigs and self-declared sovereign individuals flooding money and data resources into disruptive politicians who promise a regulation bonfire or shrinking of the state whilst in government.

Both of these societies are among the most unequal in the OECD and have systemic problems as a result of neo-Liberalism and the overmarketisation of the economy and the far reaching effects its idealogy has had on society, e.g. Internal markets in public services, corporate social responsibility/tax-payer "value" as a yardstick for policy success.

Farage and Trump were saying the same things for decades.Their narratives didn't change but the economic and social conditions did.

I'd tend to agree - Trump, Brexit and the Tory election win brought out latent bigotry and went on to legitimise all the nasty bigotry we have spent years on congratulating ourselves on having eradicated. Like racism in football we congratulated ourselves that Kick it Out had "fixed" things - it hasn't. I tell you if the "right" people started telling folk that drinking and driving laws were robbing them of their inalienable right as a Briton to have a pint and drive a short distance home regardless of how pissed they were before too long it would be like the 60's on our roads with drunk drive deaths and "libertarians" on TV saying it was a drinkers right to also be a driver regardless.

Agreed. Unfortunately there will always be large minority of the population that hold bigotted xenophobic or racist views. I Remember Mark Blyth mentioning he reckoned it was at least a 3rd of the population is racist in most countries. I would have to agree with that. Unfortunately we live in a country where politicians blame problems of their own creation on these bogeymen and claim to have found the solution in ever more extreme applications of the same idealogy. The political equivalent of blood letting.

Trump's soul mate is the dictator Lukashenko in Belarus. Now there's someone who really did steal the election.

I was watching a travel doc called Bald and Bankrupt on YT, he’s really good and worth a watch.

Anyway he was in Albania and was talking to people about Enver Hoxha, who despised him as their previous dictator.

There was a lot of talk around his paranoia and power grabs and it just sounds so much like Trump.

It’s a huge test in the system of America and it’ll prove if it’s fit for purpose, in getting rid of him.

So far so good I think.

I think he just expected Uncle Vlad to come up with the goods again.

Yes he did - but what if he knew he wouldn't. Someone sat him down and told him he was going to lose. Would he have tried to cheat - or call of the election. I bet they had a very good look in to all options and thought that taking the chance on winning was worth it. Maybe he did cheat in Florida?
